Not sure I can top that one, but here goes.... During the war, Bristol lost almost 90,000 buildings to bombing by the Germans. I chummed my dad to the specialist earlier, we (based on nothing) assumed it would be the start of a long process of tests, diagnosing the problem and maybe doing fittings if it turned out he needed a hearing aid etc. I stayed in the waiting room.
