Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted May 25, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted May 25, 2023 TIL that Zadie Smith, author of White Teeth, is the sister of Ben Bailey Smith off of the telly. Talented family! I don't know if they're related to Clare Short though.

Talented family! I don't know if they're related to Clare Short though. They also have another brother who raps under the name Luc Skyz, who is a decent (if unremarkable) rapper. Luc and Doc (Ben) once gently persuaded me into buying one of Luc's mix CDs outside Deal Real Records by playing me approximately 5 seconds on a discman and convincing me I'd love it. Strong hustle. It was pretty good to be fair. Edited May 25, 2023 by SuperBacon
Paid Members Carbomb Posted May 26, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted May 26, 2023 ...that former French First Lady, Carla Bruni, was in Eurotrash.  Something something Martin Short, something something Claire Short MP.
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted May 26, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted May 26, 2023 Portsmouth is the most densely populates island in the UK, and is our only island city. I'd imagine Clare Short has been there at some point, but I'm not sure whether her cousin Martin would have.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted May 26, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted May 26, 2023 I didn't know Portsmouth was on an island, so I looked at Google Maps. There's a thin creek "separating" it from the mainland. I can accept that definitely makes it an island, but I dunno - feels like cheating a bit. Paid Members gmoney Posted May 26, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted May 26, 2023 As someone who lived there for four years I can say that it definitely feels like an island when you're there.

I had to go to Thorney Island recently. Sounded quite Wicker Man-ish but in all honesty was slightly disappointing.
Paid Members gmoney Posted May 26, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted May 26, 2023 I also used to live very near there for many years as well (Bracklesham Bay - it is a bay). Nearby Selsey used to be an island but got all mushed up into the mainland at some point.
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted May 31, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted May 31, 2023 TIL that Mark Rocco grew up 10 minutes walk away from where I grew up, and his family home was 3 doors down from my best mate. Â Mind fucking blown!

Tamura
TIL that in my local Sainsbury's you can walk round the shop at 9am drinking from a bottle of gin you've picked up off the shelf, get to the checkout and say you've forgotten your bank card and be escorted out of the shop by the security guard without the police being called.

Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted June 7, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted June 7, 2023 Sorry for the double bubble but TIL that seeing your brother in law get 240 volts through him after he ignores what you've told him about the plug socket is extremely satisfying.
