a Dandelion & Burdock sour that I'm going to have to find out the name of because it tasted exactly like D&B. I'm normally not a fan of fruity booze that doesn't taste like it has any alcohol in it, but this was lovely.

If you find it, please share the name - I like Dandelion & Burdock, and a sour version sounds fun.

My recent find has been Exale brewery's tropical IPA, 'Skoosh'. Which is just a name that's really enjoyable to say when you're ordering, and I have to stop myself doing it in a proper California stoner kind of 'skoooooosh' kind of way.

Some digging on photos from the pub's Untappd led me to this:

https://untappd.com/b/exale-brewing-roots/5370788

So that'll be it. There's a few others I came across while trying to find it, though - Play Brew, who I've had decent stuff from before, have a Dandelion & Burdock beer called Doodle Dandy.

The pub in question, incidentally, is The Shirkers Rest in New Cross. I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who finds themselves in that neck of the woods.

This is probably my favourite thread on here and it's just lovely reading about your enthusiasm for beer.

Great to see sours getting some love. Just Some Girl occasionally gets off the real cider if there is one available.

I'm heading down the coast tomorrow for a lads amble around Lytham & St Annes.

A traditional pub or two with lots of craft bars & micropubs to fit in.

Fingers crossed for milds & stouts aplenty.

Mild is often my favourite, especially if it's a long day drinking and I'm going slow on a few pints. Twisted Barrel here in Cov do a really solid one which is a bit of a staple, going full Merzbow but I miss their Twin Peaks inspired ales, they were doing loads around the time of The Return.

I don't get on with sours normally, but that dandelion and burdock one sounds good. Sitting listening to Pendulum while drinking it? Nothing like a bit of D&B to go with some D&B.

Generally do prefer cask ales, but there are some good crafty ones. Think I would've loved those Twin Peaks ones.

I love a good mild but it's not something I see around too much. I guess it doesn't have the sell through which is why I always enjoy getting them in at festivals. I'll keep putting it in the suggestion box down my local though.

For saying how close I am to Cov I don't see much Twisted Barrel around. Someone a few months back mentioned a newish set up, Triumph. Not sure how new they mean by new but what's your opinion on them? Worth a visit?

I haven't actually tried them yet,  I do wonder how many micro breweries and specialist pubs Coventry can actually handle at once without just eating into each others customer base though as we have quite a few now.

Milds and bitters are making a comeback, a few if the craft bars up here always have some in now.

Saying that, I went to Dundee last weekend and every pub served the exact same shite bitters and milds. It was like stepping back to the 70s.

While I was on holiday 3 weeks ago, and before my knee blew up on me half way through, my brother in law, my cousin’s husband and myself were working our way through a case of a really nice Spanish beer called Tropical with the former even trying a lemon version of it one night when we were eating out which he wasn’t a fan of. If I remember right it was only something like €1.90 a can in the supermarket up the road from where we were staying as well

I'm definitely seeing more bitters. For a time it was all hop heavy IPA, then sweet flavored stouts everywhere, but more often I'm finding one or two good session bitters on post covid in the mix.

Not sure if it's a change in who's out or brewerys closing.

If you asked, I'd say mild was my favourite beer style, but.....after a couple of pints I'm craving something with a bit more "bite"

Outside of its industrial heartlands I believe it's pretty much extinct.

I just discovered one here on the south coast.  Went to a pub in Worthing that had Harveys ales on tap, and they have two in this category -

https://harveys.org.uk/beer/dark-mild
https://harveys.org.uk/beer/old-ale

I had the latter, it's marvellous.  A bit more bite than a very mild mild, but still malty and smooth.

Anyone tried this? Moretti with salt in. It sounds well shit and I have no intention of purchasing it, but am interested if anyone can confirm it's as bad as I imagine.

I watched the Real Ale Craft Beer bloke review it the other day on YouTube. He said it was better than the bog standard UK brewed Birra Moretti we get here but nothing special, it is UK brewed as well and not imported. Think he gave it a 6 or 7 out of 10.
