WyattSheepMask
While looking around after hearing rumblings about Oz being released on Blu-ray, came across Kenny Omega in some random banner ad for some Bluetooth headphones. Or it could be his exact double. Ooh look! That dog has a puffy tail! Edited January 18, 2019 by WyattSheepMask
Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted January 20, 2019 Awards Moderator Share Posted January 20, 2019 The "how do you like your tea?" Keiji Mutoh edition. Fucking hell that guy knows how to create a look.
Merzbow
Imagine a perfect world where Muta came over to the WWF around the same time as Hakushi, the possible matches with Bret, Owen, Shawn, Kid and 'Taker. Do you think he would have fared any better? And speaking of Hakushi, him and Sasuke in an amazing shot.
JakeRobertsParoleOfficer
Muta was awesome Talk about investing in your look, also like Liger he adapted his moveset subtlety so you didn't really notice and it aided his longevity a million fold. For me an underrated (in US/UK markets) performer who was A+ for 25+ years
Paid Members BomberPat Posted January 21, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted January 21, 2019 Muta has to be the leading candidate for Sting's old "biggest star to never work WWE" title now, surely? There's a line on his Wiki saying "after leaving WCW, a no-compete clause in his WCW contract prevented him from competing in the World Wrestling Federation" - was that ever even on the table in 2000? I can't imagine it, but seems odd to bother stating it there. In terms of big mad wrestling storytelling, Muta vs. Undertaker is the biggest missed opportunity going. They were connected, in storyline terms, via the Jinsei Shinzaki/Undertaker match in Michinoku Pro, but to try and interweave the mythology of those two gimmicks (and, by extension, Hakushi) would be a booker's dream. Mine, anyway.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted January 21, 2019 Paid Members Share Posted January 21, 2019 (edited) Muta was a bit of a genius at keeping himself relevant. As mentioned, things like tweaking his working style to factor in his knackered his knees, which included adding the excellent Shining Wizard in that great early 00s run. He got away with it because Muta is someone that got the importance of story and character in his matches. It's probably why he did so well in WCW. Another bit of cleverness was switching between Keiji Mutoh and The Great Muta. Impossible not to keep yourself fresh when you've got two gimmicks and they are both great (well, unless you're Finn Balor). Just because we're here. Guns upon guns.
