It is chapter 21. Shocking. I’ve got a mate like that. He was telling me a story of how he saw the filming of Pat Butcher’s funeral, but half an hour in and he’s talking me through his other mate’s golf handicap. Always tangent after tangent to the point where we barely ever get to the end of his stories but end up hearing ten others Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted August 29, 2025 Members Posted August 29, 2025 Couple of upcoming titles I've seen this week. That Rampage one sounds great. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted August 29, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 29, 2025 I'd buy it on the cover alone. Great work. Quote

There's a Gorilla Monsoon book coming out soon. 30th September I believe. Getting this: https://ecwpress.com/products/irresistible-force Edited August 29, 2025 by herbie747 Quote

He's a cracking bloke and the book was phenomenal, so I've no doubt the new one will be too. 4 hours ago, SuperBacon said: Couple of upcoming titles I've seen this week. CL Punk Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 Has anyone read Barry Horowitz's Wrestling Is My Gimmick: My Life on The Wrong Side of The Three Count? Quote

Yes I read it a couple of months ago it's a good read but feels a bit short but enjoyable..I'm tempted to read the stone Cold Truth or the hbk autobiographies again. Quote
AnotherCrapUsername Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 I've recently read Saraya's which I surprised myself and genuinely enjoyed. Say what you wany about her but she's packed a hell of a lot of living into her 30 odd years. I got a 3 month trial of audible for 99p so am currently listening to Tod Gordon's book Tod is God. Although the title is a stretch, I'm enjoying the book so far. Quote
Paid Members Kaz Hayashi Posted October 12, 2025 Paid Members Posted October 12, 2025 The 1st book of a new Titan trilogy by James Dixon has just come out. The original Trilogy (Sinking, Screwed & Shattered) were good reads, and this new book focuses on 1992, the scandals, headliners leaving, Bret becoming champ and Summerslam 92. I've had a chance to read 1/2 of it, and as expected, it's right up my street. Quite a bit of stuff that hasn't been covered to death too. Quote
Paid Members JNLister Posted October 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted October 30, 2025 I don't quite understand how time has worked like this, but it's somehow 20 years today since I published Turning The Tables: The Story of Extreme Championship Wrestling. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1520782489 Quote

Paid Members BomberPat Posted November 3, 2025 Paid Members Posted November 3, 2025 I just started Joe E. Legend's book, and so far it's been a real disappointment. I like Joe a lot, I've trained under him, worked with him, and though he went a bit off the deep end into Covid conspiracies a couple of years ago, I've always found him a really nice and supportive guy - and he's genuinely a smart bloke, a good writer, and has had a career worth writing about. But the book, so far, just isn't that. It's really badly edited and formatted. To the point that the cover art has the title as "No, I Haven't Heard Of You Either", but the title page inside has it as "The Book Of Legend". I can forgive that for a self-published book, if the content is good enough, but so far it really hasn't been. ISomething that became apparent very early on is that a lot of this was written a long time before publication - at one point he talks about Roddy Piper in the present tense, and in another says that Ted DiBiase Jr. is currently wrestling for WWE. I twigged when he references part of it as a "column", that he's just recycling stuff that he had written back in the early 2010s for his column on SLAM! Wrestling - to the point that the introduction, in which he thanks his publisher, is just his first column from 2011 with "SLAM! Wrestling" replaced by the name of his publisher. Maybe the quality will pick up and there will be new material later, but based on the first third or so, I'm not optimistic. Quote

That's fantastically carny, even for a pro wrestler Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted November 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted November 4, 2025 it gets worse. Chapter 15 opens with Sweet Daddy Siki telling him to get a passport because he's going to wrestle in Japan, then Chapter 16 ends with the big reveal that he's....going to get booked in Japan. At which point it becomes clear that these two chapters were printed in the order. And, actually, it's even worse than that. Because then Chapter 17 is identical to Chapter 15. This book has never seen an editor or a proof-reader. I'm around two thirds of the way through, and he's on his first tour of FMW, which is about four matches into his career. I'd assume that anyone buying Joe E's book is interested in his background and relationships with Edge, Christian and Rhyno, but none of them have shown up yet. The most interesting thing about him for me, as someone who has spent a lot of time with him and listened to his stories plenty of times, is that he may well have the record of the highest number of countries wrestled in - I haven't seen him in a few years, but he once told me his plan was to stop wrestling when either his age or the number of countries hit 50, and they were running pretty much neck and neck (he's 56 now, and has added more countries to his list, so neither of those things happened) - and that's a really interesting and unique career, yet you'd know nothing about it from this book so far. I worked the FWA Celebrity Wrestling Tour in 2005 as ring crew with Joe. Lovely bloke. Best story I can remember was that he once wrestled at a nudist resort and got heat by just wearing his wrestling gear. Quote
