I can really get behind that sort of self belief that spills over into complete delusion though, makes for a laugh and a nice easy read, but I don't mind Bob Holly anyway, so that probably helps, as of course, when a complete dickhead has delusions of grandeur it doesn't quite have the same affect, but something about Bob Holly and the way we know he is and has been, penning in his book that he believes he should have held the belt makes me laugh, I can imagine him stewing over it at random points in his life.

I looked through that book recently and realised I'd completely Mandela-effected the bit where he asks why he isn't getting a push and is told he should try pitching ideas for storylines to creative, so he pitches "I win a load of matches in a row and then get a title shot."

Yeah that story was from the Bruce Pritchard podcast, not his book.

I thought Bret had a fair bit in a shoot interview about how Vince's job was to make a lot of false promises to people based on opportunities because everyone would like to be the world champion whereas the reality is very different.

my copy of Valentine's book should arrive today, though God knows when I'll actually get around to it. I also recently found a copy of Banger Walsh's book in a second hand shop, complete with foreword by Roy Chubby Brown.

I would be very interested in reading a book about The Hammer, but has anyone read any other books by the author with a gimmick name (Kenny Casanova)?

I've read the Kamala, Beefcake and Vader books he's done. They've all been really entertaining. A few mistakes along the way in spelling etc. but not enough to ruin them. They've all been in-depth reads (none of them skimp on pages), and have at least portrayed the real voices of their subjects - not like the WWE produced drivel.  Are they best wrestling books ever written? Probably not, but they're good, informative reads.

Result - they usually go for a tidy sum. I mean I'm not actually sure who wants to buy one though. Saying that stick it on for £20, undercutting everyone else, and you'll be quids in.

I read the book he co-wrote with Sabu, don't think I read any of the others. Like The Reverend said of the other books, it seems to capture Sabu's voice well enough, and was a fun read, very much felt like an "as told to" arrangement where Sabu basically dictated everything and Casanova formatted it into a book. I'm not expecting a world beater from Greg Valentine, but he's the sort of wrestler I can imagine having a lot of very interesting stories if he chooses to tell them - never a major star, so always "one of the boys", second generation, in the room for a lot of the big moments. Apparently he goes into a lot of detail on the Roddy Piper dog collar match.

Yeah if done right it could be great, he was around for so long especially mid Atlantic and WWF during peak eras for them. Valentine is the guy who my opinion has changed the most from when I was a kid watching, going from “the boring guy” to “this guy was awesome”.

Valentine posted a video saying this book was never authorised by him, and the author is countering by posting screenshots proving it was. Very odd situation.

I wouldn't normally plug this gimp's channel, but it's a good summary video and shows both sides of it.
