It might be AI, though the practice of getting mimics in to re-record bits for audiobooks and adverts it pretty common. They might have got someone in who can only do prime Hitman.

I looked it up as I thought I was going mad, and someone said "maybe they got him to rerecord the bits when his voice was better" which I don't buy at all.

He's so slow and gravelly now and all of a sudden he turns into his Simpsons voice for 5 seconds? Don't think so.

The more I hear it, I think it's AI.

I'm intrigued now, but simultaneously knowing in advance that there's anomalies like this would prevent me from ever being able to properly unwind so Bret's unlikely to see me at The Bedtime.

I will say it sounds exactly like the sort of thing a vet would do, though, to be asked "We need you to fill in a few blanks for us" and return it in the form of a promo.

He/AI also seems to read sentences quite strangely, like a TV presenter reading autocue who has no idea what the next word will be.

It's a huge shame if he's agreed to AI when voice actors have been on strike over it's potential uses only recently, but it seems like older people are far more into using it, you know a technology is shit when younger people are against it while boomers eat it up.

I decided to convert all of last year's SEA Wrestling magazines into an Ebook on Kindle which I've set as free but that deal runs out tonight.

Apart from making a few extra quid I wanted to make the content readable for different preferences.

Looking back, I'd say things get better issue 3 onwards where we found out voice. Issue 1 is cross bar the article.9n the Philippines.

To be fair to him, I think the only person he would want reading his book is him, rather than someone doing an impression of him. AI will be a closer approximation of that, though it should probably have been trained only on his voice from the last year or so to mitigate the amount of times 'prime' Bret Hart interrupts the listening experience.

I am really enjoying listening to it though; the candour is remarkable. I first read the book when it came out and have not re-read it since, so it's like discovering it all over again.

Has anyone checked out Guy Evan's Beyond Nitro book yet? I really enjoyed how maddeningly analytical the first Nitro book was, in comparison to The Death of WCW's more comedic/sensational approach. The price of this thing is crazy though. And yes, it's cheaper on Amazon/Kindle but still quite pricy there and I prefer physical copies.

I know you don’t mean it as a knock on Nitro but I’d say Death of WCW mentioning pretty much every Nitro rating once they started going down the pan was more maddening analytical, I hammered the book when I first got it but Christ it dragged in what should have been the most interesting part, the last 18 months of the company.  I’ve read Nitro 3 times and it gets better each time, except for the amount of space dedicated to that Leona Erickson

In regards to what you were actually posting about, I’m the same as you, I’d much rather have a physical copy but not paying 30 odd quid

Non-wrestler of the year already sewn up.

I nominate Bret Hart for every single Davey Boy Smith impression in his audiobook. Each somehow funnier than the last.

Laughed at loud in Chapter 40 as he pronounces "whore" just like Cornette's impression of Stu.

Finished Barry Darsow's recent book last night - currently on Kindle Unlimited.

A fun, breezy read, and Barry seems like the nicest bloke on earth. I'd recommended.

Imagine my shock and dismay when, about 90% through Bret’s book, Spotify suddenly introduced the concept of “audiobook hours.”

The fuck?’ Since when was this a thing?! I thought on Premium I had unlimited access to audiobooks! They screwed me. They really screwed me, the lousy bastards.

My family were confused as to why I was writing the word, “AUDIBLE,” in the sky with my finger.

However, quite funny that they rang the bell on me as soon as Bret went to The WCW. Like even Spotify knows nothing good can happen under Bischoff’s watch. I’ll have to make up my own coda.

Bret Hart went on to make three million a year in The WCW. He had a great time and was utilised excellently. Nothing bad happened. He and Goldberg remain great friends.
