Went to Glasgow on Saturday to see Midnight who were co-headlining with Voivod. The promotors posted earlier in the day that Midnight were on last, so we took our time getting there as neither of us care about Voivod. Got there in time for the last 5-10 mins of Midnight, they'd been swapped round with no notice or updates anywhere. Waste of a trip. I really just think Blind Guardian are a cut above any other power metal band. Imaginations From the Other Side is a fantastic record. Quote

I did get to see Tomahawk in Sydney 2002 and met the band so chatting to Mike Patton fulfilled that wish somewhat (NB he was a lot shorter than I expected but still hot as fuck even in a hairnet). He is a short king with an abnormally large neck. Tomahawk are great but not a patch on FNM. I've seen Patton tour with a lot of his bands - never Mr Bungle or Fantomas though. cobra_gordo Posted June 17 Posted June 17 I met Mike Patton once, after Fantomas played Sheffield. Was amazing to see so many lads in FNM shirts look utterly horrified when they started playing. Stood by the stage door after, had a good chat to Buzz, Terry Bozio who was drumming for them at the time got on the bus as fast as humaly possible to avoid any human contact. Patton seemed so timid off stage, he looked genuinely overwhelmed at how much the group of maybe 10 or 15 people waiting loved him and his various bands. Got him to sign my Suspended Animation CD, pen ran out so I borrowed someone's so I'm the proud owner of a bright pink Mike Patron autograph. Quote

I've only met him once at a FNM after party at the Roundhouse, Billy was a much bigger personality which was a surprise. And Roddy was very animated but that's not a surprise. I didn't get to meet Puffy. A lot of FNM fans are very confused by Fantomas, first time I heard them I was a bit 'what is this' but love them now. I think they fit better with the Mr Bungle crowd. Directors Cut is an absolute classic album in my opinion, I love the artwork too. Edited June 17 by deathrey Quote
Paid Members mim731 Posted June 17 Paid Members Posted June 17 I think the reason I enjoy Mr Bungle a lot because of the clear influence of Cardiacs, who remain one of those truly underrated pioneering bands. Conversely, I saw FNM in London in 2012-ish and they were a bit disappointing. Not awful, but not brilliant. Hopefully was just an off night. Saw Elder and Blood Incantation last night in Brighton. It was insanely warm in the oversold Concorde 2, a venue that is really not fit for purpose these days. Elder were great, although not seeing Catastasis live was a bit disappointing. BI were incredible, although loads of people left after they finished playing Absolute Elsewhere in it's entirety because of the heat. They were genuinely incredible, one of the best live acts I've seen in years. Quote

I even like the synth-heavy stuff that they do, although I understand why some might not like it.
