Hayley is great, she's got a new band called Power Snatch that's closer to Indie with some Manchester scene and shoegaze influences. Pretty good. Quote
deathrey Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) Yeah I've retired all my skinny jeans (I never thought I would give those up) and gone back to a baggier silhouette and I love it. I've only got one full on 90/00's street sweeper pair that I can't wear when it rains otherwise I will be soggy up to the knees and they will rip, I learnt my lesson from the first time round. I wear them with normal trainers because I need arch support but I loved my DC's back in the day. Slightly off topic but I really love how trends have changed for young women with comfort seemingly taking centre stage. I will happily never wear a pair of high heels again and I'm glad to see most youngsters agree. One thing that seems ingrained in me though is the need to smarten up my clothing when I'm out and about - I'm very aware this is probably just a female born in the 80's thing - but I just can not wear joggers unless I'm at home or going to the gym. I'm quite happy to look like trash when I do the school run but there is a line, and that line begins and ends with wearing trackies. It's such a strange thing. I will wear jeans or leggings if I'm picking the kids up. Joggers just went acceptable outside wear for women other than for the period where Sporty Spice was popular and Adidas popper trackies were a thing, once I was in my late teens/early 20s it was an absolute no unless you were a slob and that seems to have stuck like cement. I love that the younger generation have made it a uniform to wear them out and about and I wish I could uncondition myself to do the same. Harry Wiseau Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Not sure if this is the right topic to post under but Ginger Wildheart has been diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma , a rare and aggressive cancer. He's said he's not going to go through treatment so he reckons he's got 2-3 years left. Terrible news, I bloody love the Wildhearts in all their forms and the vast majority of Gingers other projects (mutations was a bit much for me, but Howling Willie Cunt was amazing) he's a bloody national treasure and I genuinely think he's one of Britain's greatest living songwriters. So prolific, such a fucking ear for a melody and he seemed like he was in the happiest place he's been in many years and now this. Gutted, but the remaining gigs which he'll no doubt be doing until pretty much the end are going to be immense and emotional. Quote

d-d-d-dAz Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Ooh, that's exciting. I like Aaron Turner, i'm going to see Sumac at Dingwall's in a few weeks. My absurd year of gigs (funded from a holiday we're now no longer going on) started recently; I saw Less Than Jake at Brixton which I thought would be a lot of fun, but was actually quite dull and I saw Thrice in Kentish Town, which I expected to be quite dull, but was exceptional. I've seen Thrice a few times before, usually on bills with acts I prefer, and they were fine.. but they were great here. Busy week next week, as I have Mogwai, and then the absolute monster of a show which is Kreator, Carcass, Exodus and Nails. Quote

The recap as i understand it is that the day after their final show their guitarist Eric Melvin filed a legal request for financial records with the implication being that there was financial mismanagement/ misappropriation by Fat Mike. They have released a documentary about their band and Melvin has not been part of the press tour. Fat Mike said he wanted to end the band 10-12 years ago but carried on so the guys could get paid. Seemingly Melvin was working as a delivery driver in the Covid years to make ends meet. Quote

He strikes me as a fun guy to be around in small doses but any more than that then would drive you crazy. I amazed Melvin was in such a poor financial situation though. Not sure if it was bad investments or divorces/child support etc.. but he has done 26 albums with NOFX and toured quite considerably in those years. But hey, i’m sure he wasn’t working a civilian job for the heck of it either. Quote
