I'm wondering that myself. Two of the original lineup have passed away (Neil the guitarist and Jammer the drummer). Going from Paul Catten's facebook posts thing is all about celebrating the first album. He's re-releasing it re-mixed and re-mastered too to coincide, I can't wait to hear it.

I'm hoping to catch them live a couple of times on the run, not sure how Catten will match the intensity of those original shows, he was a lunatic. About 10 years back he toured with as a band as 'A Man Called Catten' and they played Medulla Nocte material, I never went and always regretted it.

Thats really sad to hear  about Neil and Jammer. I had the pleasure of seeing Nocte a couple of times in dingy venues back in the day and Jammer was really nice when i talked to him. I'll be keeping my eye out for the remaster of a Conversation alone as its an album to this day that's still in my regular rotation. Wont be able to swing a trip over the Atlantic for that gig though so im hoping it pops up on youtube.

Earth cancelled an entire gig in Bologna because there was a Palestine flag in the venue and I'm not actually surprised, Dylan Carlson has gone down the weirdo conspiracy nut pipeline over the past few years like too many old arse Doom Metal guys. Never ask Matt Pike about his politics, for example.

Stumbled on a stream of Mayhem playing Wacken in 2024 and I've decided my new least favourite trope in metal is legacy bands using a hype video of their history as a live show intro. There's something so corny about it. It's something for WWE, not a currently active band everyone in the building's already familiar with and is about to see in the flesh in a few minutes anyway.

Did they use *that* photo of Dead being.... dead? I wouldn't be surprised if they still try to capitalize on that era even though it's so far removed from what they are now.

Someone’s been repressing Dawn of the Black Hearts on vinyl with *that* cover recently. It keeps showing up on my Vinted and eBay feeds

Berzan Önen has been unveiled as the new vocalist for Nevermore.

He’s a singer based in Turkey who’s played in numerous small bands for around 17 years, but this will be his first major foray into a bigger band.

These clips are a few years old, but here he is tackling the Nevermore tracks ‘The Obsidian Conspiracy’ and ‘Enemies of Reality’

They’ve also released a 40 mini doc about the reformed Nevermore

An example of a GOOD band name.

Mass of the Fermenting Dregs sounds very Jeremy and Super Hans.

Edit: just seen itoldyouiwouldeatyou are playing. Their I Am Not Your Fault EP helped me get through a really rough patch about 10 years ago. Great band.

See also: Erotic Secrets Of Pompeii, Scorpion Milk and Meatdripper. There's some great names all round on there tbh.

I've just discovered Skloss and I reckon their set will be belting but at the same time, we'll have been on the site 5 days by that point and I'll probably want to just go home and recover. Not sure I'll have the strength to watch any bands that day, including Chat Pile who I absolutely love.
