Trying to branch out a bit more this year and listen a bunch of new acts, and last week came across Night of the Vampire. They’ve just put out their debut album, ‘The Enchanting Winds of the Dreamweaving Masquerade’ and I absolutely love it Quote

The particular sub-genre ("magick metal") has some really good and interesting bands, the downside being that the vast majority of them are either Nazis or edgelords using the imagery. A lot of it comes from Black Magick SS being the first band to do the style and most others copying them but yeah, leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. Quote

"Real Emo" and it's subgenres like Emoviolence and Screamo came about in the 90's as a less macho answer to the Hardcore scene but still carries it's heaviness in many aspects. The term definitely gained more mainstream traction in the early 00s though. This at the time was hugely divisive (I loved it obviously) and is considered peak 'emo awareness' or whatever. Quote

Flash forward to now and she really missed it so thought she would look for one online and found they now sell for silly amounts of money. My kids wear baggy jeans and joggers just like me and their Mum did 25 years ago. The more interesting thing is I think, that it has less to do with the music or scene or whatever, I think. My youngest will wear really baggy jeans with her Nike TNs for example. She's creating a new genre! Quote
