We have telescopes in space, we've landed robots on other planets and asteroids, we've done karaoke on a space station, we've flown cameras past Pluto. We have photos of space. A lot of the images of space we see are composite images, and there are certainly others where they've added extra colours to help us better understand what we're looking at, such as for images of nebulae. Also, a lot of the images we see of the earth aren't a single image simply because the satellites aren't high enough up to take a full image at once, so they'll merge several images together. But to say they're artists impressions or that we don't have any proper images of the earth or space is just completely wrong. Somebody I follow on twitter took a picture on their phone through a small telescope of Jupiter the other night and you could clearly see its moons. So imagine what the professionals are able to take.  One of the most famous photos is The Blue Marble, which was taken from Apollo 17 in the 70's. Or are they saying this because it is true and Nasa had no plans to share so are exposing the story and putting it out there? Or is this a double swerve so that the news can be broken but because Anonymous has released the info NASA will now hold back and say nothing? Liberals will rejoice and take to social media to declare how they greet their new alien friends with open arms, probably putting a green filter on their profile pics as a show of solidarity. Meanwhile, very loud conservatives across the world will be up in arms, literally, demanding a consolidation and expansion of our nuclear weapons capacities. Survivalists continue to sit in the hills, eating beans and somehow stockpiling ammo. The East accuses the West of collusion. People go about their daily lives, while a tiny minority wonder when the next paradigm shift will come.
