Paid Members air_raid Posted February 2 Paid Members Posted February 2 It’s really straightforward. He’s older than Arn Anderson was at the age of 35, but not as old as Arn Anderson looked at the age of 25. Quote

Paid Members LaGoosh Posted February 3 Paid Members Posted February 3 (edited) My mens rumble thoughts (note this was my first time seeing most these people): - it was a heap of bland, empty shite. Didn't feature anything of any value or excitement and did nothing for anyone involved. For a company that prides itself on "telling stories" and "cinema" there wasn't a single story or decent character moment in the entire thing. - I've heard Obi Femi, Trick Williams and Je'vvon Evans hyped as potential mega stars. This was my first time seeing them and I definitely didn't get that vibe. Femi has an incredible physique and got a bunch of early eliminations but didn't really come across as anything special or and lacked the physical charisma to really come across as a big unstoppable monster. After his opening run just disappeared into the background with everyone else. Trick Williams with his Whoop Dat Trick chant - references to popular songs from the early 2000s, WWE always with its finger on the pulse - but did literally nothing of note in the match at all. I got no sense of him being anything at all. Evans is fucking shit! Skinny twat who just jumps high. Does that thing spot monkeys do where they do a little pause to get ready before doing their next spot instead of doing it naturally - once you see it you'll never not notice it. Bumps big but in the Dolph Ziggler way where it is unnatural and draws attention to the person doing the bump rather that the person hitting the move. If he was in AEW everyone would be shitting all over him. - Dr Iguana(?) and the El Grande Americano stuff felt like the most 2004 Chikara shit imaginable. Couldn't believe I was seeing it on a WWE PPV. - this was The Miz's 17th Royal Rumble which is about 14 too many. Can't believe this arsehole still has a job all these years later. - the Brock/Oba showdown was very uninspiring. And both men being eliminated in such weak fashion was very weird and made them both look very dumb. Couldn't Oba have eliminated Brock instead? Would have made Oba and wouldn't have hurt Brock at all and naturally set up a proper singles match. Can't the dickheads on the creative team just do the obvious thing that works or must they always go for the most boring underwhelming option possible? - LA Knight was the only person who seemed to get a genuine reaction from this terrible crowd. Fair play to him - whatever he's doing must be working. His punches are rubbish, does some weird overarm thing where his wrist hits his opponents shoulder - looks very weird. - Rusev, Fenix and Penta burning their AEW bridges to do absolutely nothing of worth is very funny. Wrestlers are so silly. - good to see Cody is as ridiculous as ever. His selling was so awful and over the top it had me laughing out loud. He's such a carny that he's somehow convinced people he's actually a good wrestler - I love him. - Bronson Reed is fat but not in a good intimidating "Look at that unit!" wrestling fat way. Just a bit of a fatty. Speaking of fat Jacob Fatu needs to get back on the burgers - this slim look ain't working. - the number of wrestlers doing highflying spots that required them to use the ropes was frustrating. Basic psychology in a Rumble should be to avoid the top rope as much as possible not fucking springboard up it every 5 minutes. - hearing Cole do the "vintage Orton" call was a bit depressing. I remember him doing that weekly when I last regularly about 8-9 years ago. When does "vintage" turn into "ancient, boring bollocks"? And the same springboards into RKO's "outta nowhere" aren't the fans bored of seeing the same rubbish for years and years and years? Genuinely baffling. - this new La Parka is rubbish. They should have got the proper one. A fat, angry 60 year old Mexican punching people in the face would have actually been the only fun thing in this match. - do people actually like Jey Uso's song? His play it back gimmick would be great if he was a heel. What a berk this bloke is. - not surprised Roman won. The star power in this other than him was bottom of the barrel stuff. No one else looked remotely like a worthy winner at all. - everyone involved in producing this match should be either fired or forced to watch the 92 and 2001 Rumbles on repeat for a week straight before being allowed to work on the one next year. - final thought: I have no idea how anyone watches this stuff. Absolute mentalists. Edited February 3 by LaGoosh Quote

Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted February 3 Awards Moderator Posted February 3 (edited) Totting up some age-related stats for this year's Rumble, and here are a couple of not very fun but I think they're fun facts: - It's a common complaint that WWE's wrestlers are generally getting a bit old, but despite Rey Mysterio being 50+ and Brock Lesnar pushing 50, when you add up everyone's ages together, this year's Rumble was collectively 58 years younger than last year's, with an average age of 36. That makes it the 'youngest' Rumble this decade. - Rey Mysterio has been the oldest competitor twice in a row now, only the third man to achieve this after Ric Flair in 2005-7 (when he was the oldest man in the match three times in a row) and Jimmy Snuka in 1990-91. - Je'Von Evans was eliminated by Randy Orton, who competed in his first Royal Rumble three months before Je'Von was born. Edited February 3 by HarmonicGenerator This is using Royce Keys' age as claimed on Wikipedia rather than any other Sources In The Know. Quote

I was thinking Cibernetico in 1997 as I seem to mind Jim Ross referring to him as a teenager but it appears he was also 21 at the time. Edit: i haven't watched WWE (or wrestling) properly in years so I have no idea who it is. Maybe one of the women's entrants? Edited February 3 by RoryFice Quote
