SpykeDudlei1 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) Women’s match was ok, nothing special, but I like Liv winning. I’m a big Raquel Rodriguez fan though. She’s really grown into the heel role. Enjoyed AJ & Gunther and I actually found myself buying into the fact that maybe this wasn’t the match where AJ would call it quits. Drew was great and did the job he had to in his match with Sami. Bob Holly is currently (if he hasn’t already) preparing another anti-Sami tweet. Having Bron come in 2nd instead of 1st was the obvious way to cover up the production fuck up cos they clearly needed him to still be in at the start for the attack and quick elimination. I used to like the Jey Uso entrance thing but after him doing the whole ‘run it back’ in War Games - you know, that ‘fight to the death’ match - and now in this too, as well as going to the second rope to pose for it, it makes him look like a tit. And a ref had to tell him to hurry up and get in the ring because Roman’s entrance countdown was due to start. LA Knight is over like a fucker and they still don’t pull the trigger on him. Baffling. No Finn? Could’ve lived without Mr Iguana and La Parka involvements. If Gunther is doing double duty you have him win it surely? Lesnar being cheered at an event in Saudi is the ultimate example of this show being one of those where you leave your morals at the door by watching it. Roman winning? Ugh. He’s literally just done a media appearance where he said no new stars are stepping up/being created. And as far as every Rumble match nowadays…the convoluted spots where wrestlers feed themselves one after another is tiresome and nonsensical. Give me the days of wrestlers having the odd showdown followed by lots of simple, against the ropes, physical attempts to get someone out rather than the overly-repeated Shawn Michaels/Kofi Kingston close-call eliminations. It loses its impact after a while. Right…I’m off to rewatch the 1990, 1991 & 1992 shows to cleanse my Royal Rumble soul. Edited February 1 by SpykeDudlei1 Quote

Now my 10 seconds disappointment at Cody not winning has faded, I think I can find some positivity. Reigns getting to go into a Mania looking for winning the title as a hero and getting received as one is overdue, and while a few of you are convinced it will be vs Punk, I wonder if we’ll get McIntyre vs Reigns, Cody vs Punk, Gunther vs Lesnar and maybe Rollins vs Breakker. While I think it’s clear we’re in the midst of transition from “Roman on top” to “Cody on top”, Mania 40 was the start of the process, not the conclusion, and having a Roman babyface title fight as a Mania centrepiece here would be, for me, a wise break after 3 years straight of it being Cody’s dance. Be good to avoid Cody burnout and potential “new Cena” backlash from dickheads. If they hold off between 42 and 43, I believe we’ll probably get the rubber match between Rhodes and Reigns. It will have been three years since and a different environment entirely to their last singles match and would serve as a final and grand “torch passing” should Cody decisively end the argument about who is better without any interference, and likely would be one of Romans final handful of matches. If handled well, could be perceived as WWEs most anticipated match for many years. Of course, I say that, but easily they could have Dwayne fuck it by sticking his Brahma bellend where it’s not required, either casting some magic spell to relieve Roman of his essence, deciding Timothee Chalomet or someone needs to be involved in the finish, or merely declaring it’s finally time he wrestles Reigns himself. Or they just flub it with a shit build, probably wasting two of Roman’s contracted six nights work a year by giving him and Cody a two week odd couple run with the re-undisunified tag titles before they inevitably drop them back to New Day. By the way, if you’re wondering since I’m going for Cody vs Reigns for Mania 43, who my crystal balls tell me is in store for Punk at the latest biggest stupendacular happening of all time and start of a new era, let me tell you - it’s Seth Rollins. It's easy enough to have Cody win the chamber and then settle the personal aspect of the McIntyre feud at a SNME or on a big Smackdown before Mania. Especially as he's not in line for a rematch, and if Reigns has already declared for McIntyre. That makes sense, so I imagine we're getting two four-ways. Because Triple H. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) Watched most of the show live as it was on a decent hour. Opening package, and who do we see first? Why it’s old Big Nose of course. He hates being on the show though, so he’s said before. Womens Match was fine but pretty forgettable which seems to be the usual thing every year with that. Indifference about Liv winning but she’s as big a star as they’ve got without putting Rhea back at the top of the division again. Charlotte and Alexa no doubt are splitting their team in the run up to Mania, one turning in the other at Elimination Chamber most likely. Gunther v Styles was definitely the best match of what I saw, and having Gunther win adds some intrigue as I’m not convinced this was ever going to AJ’s last night with the company. Drew v Sami was fine but the result was never in question. Saw upto Brock coming into the Rumble but then I had to go and pick my wife up so missed the end of the match. Other than Oba Femi looking a boss and Powerhouse Hobbs debuting I can’t say there was much else that do it for me in the Men’s Match, and having read the result I doubt I’ll even bother to watch the rest of it. Oh, and a Mystery Attacker in a Black Hoodie….again. Big Nose can’t get fired soon enough, and The Roadie can go with him Edited February 1 by WyattSheepMask Quote
BarryOVega Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Lesnar suplexing Logan Paul should have been a big deal considering he’s loosely aligned with The Vision, no reaction at all from commentary Lesnar being eliminated got barely any reaction either, then again other than Gunther going out for the Reigns win barely any eliminations got a response The graphic at the bottom being wrong half the time was annoying, on a positive note at least they’ve enough self awareness to take the piss out of the two men square up while everyone else is down spot by doing it with Priest and Mr Iguana, would work better if they didn’t do the spot with no irony in the same match though Quote

His contract was expiring anyway so I don’t see why he’d feel the need to be deceptive about that. Quote

I loved the sudden silence after AJ passed out too. Great, genuine reaction. They were genuinely willing him to fight back and it made the match feel all the more special in my opinion. Quote

To be fair, he doesn't seem like the kinda guy that would want a year long fuss made about him or anything like that. I know WWE do a lot of things wrong obviously but this isnt necessarily a "HHH is shit!" moment. Quote

Wideload90 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) First live rumble in 25 years. Wish I hadn't bothered. AJ Vs Gunther was tremendous and I genuinely didn't know what was going on happen. The retirement felt flat though if that really is the end of his WWE career. Still, a good match in an otherwise stale PPV. Oba Femi is an absolute star and I loved the first 15 minutes of the men's rumble. They've fumbled the Brock elimination and the Reigns win leaves little to be desired. I'll probably leave it another 25 years, by which time I'll be close to senility. Still, great to see LA Parka - if theres one thing that 2026 needs in WWE, it's more LA Parka.
