Paid Members Supremo Posted February 1 Paid Members Posted February 1 (edited) Assuming the Mania Night Two Main Event (“ the proper Main Event,”) is going to be Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk in a singles match, I don’t know how Seth Rollins or Paul Heyman look themselves in the mirror after diluting and overcomplicating that very match last year. One on one feels absolutely massive. Reminds you of what a dream match that felt like when both were at the top of WWE and AEW respectively. I’ll never get over them having those two booked for Wrestlemania last year, but building the feud around who loved Paul Heyman the most, rather than for a belt, with Seth just hanging around like someone’s younger brother they’ve been forced to include in their games. It was a fine show, but nothing more. Women’s Rumble might be one of the worst of all time for just slowly filling up, new entrants having a twenty second shine before fading into the background. I could barely tell you anything else that happened. No AJ Lee was interesting. She felt nailed on to throw Becky out and build to that Wrestlemania match. Maybe she’s got more integrity about flying to Saudi than her fella, who now flies over there when he’s not even booked! The Blood Money Dennis Stamp. Gunther vs. AJ was a great bit of business. Felt massive in the moment. Great finish. Everything Cena’s daft grin wasn’t. However, unless he was going to win, it was absolutely wild they sent Gunther back out for The Rumble. Choking the career out of AJ should have been the lasting impression. Not being Runner Up to Roman. Bulldog levels of Bizarre. This can’t be the end for AJ. Wouldn’t be fair for him to retire in Saudi, where he can’t properly say goodbye to his huge following in the gay community. (THE GAY COMMUNITY?!) Did the kids ever get home in that Dungeons and Dragons cartoon? I gave up watching before I found out. Same feeling with Sami Zayn. It’s over, isn’t it? He’s never winning it. Moment has passed. He’s Bob Holly. Men’s Rumble was better than the Women’s for having some actual stories and spots, but nothing blowaway. I actually heard a great pitch involving Breakker and a mystery man in a black hoodie on the WhatCulture preview for this show. Hooded figure runs in, throwing someone else out, Bron assumes it’s Austin Theory so goes to give him a high five, but then the masked man throws Bron out too, pulling the mask off to reveal Seth. A creative twist on the trope! Shame such a thing is beyond their capabilities. Even if we ignore all the horrible awfulness, Brock Lesnar provides fuck all in 2026. Book the Gunther match already. Fuck him off. Mr. Iguana and La Parker getting spots over Kit Wilson. Toxic. Toxic. Toxic. Liv and Roman were fine choices for winners, which made it even funnier when Hunter did another one of those post-show interviews where fans drowned him out with, “AEW,” “We Want Vince,” and, “You Fucked Up!” chants. I love that this trolling has became such a thing that the quality of the show is irrelevant now. He’s getting shit regardless. Don’t worry, Paul. New Era on Monday, I assume? Maybe a fresh start will help quell the growing negative sentiment around you. And if not, maybe the New Era the following week? Anyone who didn’t enjoy this show, don’t be too disheartened. The shows aren’t supposed to be good anyway. They just exist as a backdrop for whatever shit they’re filming for Unreal. And on that, I’ll be scouring the background of shots in Unreal Season 3 for the inevitable moment when Fenix and Rusev catch each other’s eyes, collectively admitting in sad glances that this grass ain’t so green on the other side. I just think that’s what Joe Public wrestling fan, in any country, does now without being paid or encouraged. Ever since the likes of Angry Miz Girl or the fan reacting to Taker’s Mania loss were shown ad nauseum, and even more so as ‘going viral’ became even more of a thing, fans know they’ve got a good chance of being shown if they react in a truly OTT, ‘what they hell have I just seen?’ way.
