Have AJ Styles and Kenny Omega ever had a big singles match? What about Styles vs. Ospreay? Styles faced Ospreay a couple of times in RevPro ten years ago, they were really the matches that cemented Ospreay as someone to take seriously for a lot of people. AJ has only ever wrestled Kenny Omega once, in 2006. Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Is there even a chance he signs with AEW? Even for a short mini run before he finally hangs up the boots. Wasn't he meant to be on the first Dynamite? Quote
DavidB6937 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 There's absolutely enough gas in the tank left for AJ to have some great matches with most of the AEW roster, and even some Japan appearances. Is he at his best? Of course not, but he doesn't need to be. His WWE career has been far longer than I ever imagined it would be so I don't begrudge him going and having some banger matches on the way out elsewhere if that's what he fancies. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted January 29 Paid Members Posted January 29 I assumed he would be a WWE lifer once he really got his feet under the table there, it's fascinating that he might end up working elsewhere now! If he can slot into the Bryan Danielson position in AEW, of being not necessarily a main event act all of the time, but a guy to give big showcase matches to and just get to every "dream match" they can find, that would be a hell of a run in itself, it only needs to be a year or so. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, though, as I'm not convinced he's AEW-bound. He's not a Danielson type who has a decades long list of dream matches and wishlist situations, so it might just be that he takes a bit of time off and takes the odd indie booking to tag with the Good Brothers or something. RedTwoster Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I honestly expect him to end up in TNA, not AEW, to finish his career in the same place in which he made his name. But we’ll see, maybe Tony Khan will make him an offer he can’t refuse. Quote

It's half a second but very noticeably him. He then comes out as the next entrant. It's something I spotted really quickly as a kid "see also spotting Paul Roma and Tugboat in a backstage pull apart at Survivors 1989 and confused why they'd be there when they weren't booked. It always makes me laugh how close Animal is to accidentally cocking it up. Quote
Paid Members Statto Posted January 29 Paid Members Posted January 29 Dunno why he'd leave WWE in order to have a run finishing up in TNA, as they're near enough the same thing now. He could have that run while still employed by WWE. Possible the trademarks are just making it possible for him to keep selling merch on Pro Wrestling Tees for years to come, as I think there'd be some demand for that even in retirement. I do hope it's an AEW run, though - I really want Styles vs Ospreay before it's all said and done (what with Ospreay having adopted the Styles Clash & Phenomenal Forearm as semi-regular signature moves over the years, presumably to subtly tease a confrontation one day). Kfogg1991 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I am so excited for the rumble today it's by far my favourite show of the year and always has since a kid and it's even better having early and 7pm start for us in the UK which I'm sure is the first early start for a major ppv for us right? I honestly have no clue about the women's bar we're getting tonnes of tension/heat for a ridiculous amount of teams thanks to the WWE pretty much doing nothing but putting them together in a team and that's it in the female side of things bar the small few so I really don't know with there's. I'm completely set on AJ losing and this being his last match which is super sad personally because he was my favourite and who I emulated when I was wrestling way way back but it's time, his contact is up and there's nothing big enough to give a short extension to mania and the story for Walter just makes too much sense however Im praying he goes out strong with a strong style ending to finish his "phenomenal" career Drew isn't losing so soon after winning as much as having Sammi shock and win would be unbelievable I don't see a double change weeks apart so unlikely. Men's rumble I'm going with our tribal chief then going with punk and getting that one on one as the main of one night because it's fresh and actually interesting with multiple ways of telling the story to get there. Love Cody but would fall flat him winning again to choose drew for the eight hundredth time in one year nope thanks and it doesn't feel there's many possible choices Bron showed he's not ready after the match with punk for the anniversary raw touch wood he can be ready by summerslam just not yet IMO. Not long now and added bonus it will run straight into UFC PPV so 10 hours of live shows for me. The road to wrestlemania starts now 🫡🫡🫡👆👆👆👆 Quote
