Thrilled to see Norway go through. The game went on for-fucking-ever though, the added time after the penalty really pissed me off.

A hill I'll die on is that if you need to rely on a stutter and can't just do a run-up-and-belt-it penalty, you're not good at penalties. A good penalty taker can pace up and place it without being a fanny and having to rely on tricks.

Glad to see Brazil out.

Yeah it’s on the BBC now. 1am was a big enough ask. Not staying up til 2am on a work night to watch England get walloped.

Woke up at half time to catch the nerviest half of football I've ever seen, so much I had to turn it off when we went down to 10 and conceded the penalty. Turned it back on with a minute  left on the clock to us getting hammered with corners.

Jesus.

Harry Kane's post match interview is exactly what I needed to settle the nerves to get back to bed.

Tuchel nailed the tactics after the red card. I know it was tense but its not like Mexico were creating lots of good chances. Great performance!

I was absolutely creasing. What a man. Shout out to Jordan Henderson as well. Booked in a match he didn't get a minute in, then it seems he's gone and broke his arm after. What a shift.

I don't think anybody had an England Norway quarter final in their book. Be an interesting one.

All those years of watching 1am wrestling shows then getting up for work on Monday morning trained me well for that. Glad I watched, as it was a terrific game. Plenty of drama to keep me awake! I'm in a funny place with England support, whereby I lost all emotional connection years ago, so genuinely don't care at all if they lose, but that was a good win to see. I thought we would as well, Mexico were massively over hyped. They had a great record, beating mostly weak sides in that stadium, but they're nowhere near England's level.
