Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Im sure its nothing to do with the bigger commercial interest in an England game being at a more agreeable time for a large swathe of fans... But yeah, heavy rain and a hint of thunder is bad though for professional footballers... Quote

Oh Le Tissier is on the forum after all. Great to see Australia pull the 'sub a goalie on for pens' only for it to backfire. Always a joy to see that happen. Flaming galahs. Quote
NeverYield Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Seeing Stan Collymore and a few others say it's still going on at 1am not that he would be present in the talks that are currently going on, he likely knows as much as the rest of us, but a few seem to be saying its still on for 1am Quote

The France vs Iraq game had its second half delayed for 2 hours due to the weather. Maybe, they don’t want a repeat. I don’t think FIFA give a fuck that England fans might have to watch the game at 1am on a Monday morning and pubs getting late licences. Quote
MVP RULZ Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Seems confirmed game will remain at 1am Both FAs seemingly argued against changing it and FIFA backed down. Going to be interesting when the 2nd half is delayed for 2 hours until 4am and it goes to ET and the pubs have to kick everyone out Quote

Members SuperBacon Posted July 4 Author Members Posted July 4 Cape Verde with one of the greatest performances in World Cup history. The romance in football can still be found. Argentina will be mightily relieved they came through that. Quote
Glenryck Pilchards Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Fucking hell, football eh? That was a hell of an effort from Cabo Verde, I was screaming my tits of with that second equaliser and woke up my youngest. Vozhina will forever be in World Cup folklore, and I think their run has justified the expansion to 48 teams Quote
Paid Members garynysmon Posted July 4 Paid Members Posted July 4 (edited) Incredibly well coached and full of heart. If they'd have won that on pens it would have been fully deserved. Incredible thing to say given they were up against the World Champions. Cape Verde's second was a total howitzer. Edited July 4 by garynysmon Quote
Chili Posted July 4 Posted July 4 So after mentioning I wasn't really watching this year, I found a link and what a fucking game to drop in on. Has it all been this good. It was like the Rocky of football matches. That equaliser from Cape Verde was an astounding bit of business. Quote
Paid Members Chilly McFreeze Posted July 4 Paid Members Posted July 4 Best thing was they actually went toe to toe with the World Champions. They didn't low block their way to a extra time. Imagine actually taking on Argentina like that. Balls of steel, all of them. Quote
NeverYield Posted July 4 Posted July 4 I was over the moon when Duarte put that first goal in, to equalise, then they kept adding the pressure, but it just wasnt to be.. what a game Quote
