They usually put up a good fight against anyone, and are doing a better job than most promoted teams. @SuperBacon I know your saying pretty much everyone has been boring and I agree, but your lot under Frank have to be up there near the top. This should (but won’t) be a wake up call to the entire club - owners, players and fans. Nobody can ever take away last season but we’ve been riding our luck a lot with a wafer thin squad, lacking any real quality/experience on the bench. I think we got Borna Sosa from a Kinder Egg. Glasner’s contract talks will last about ten minutes next week so Parish has probably already left Roy Hodgson on the worktop to defrost. Quote

Paid Members Scratch Posted January 10 Paid Members Posted January 10 (edited) My mate down the road and his family are all Spurs fans and asked if I wanted to go to the Villa game today. First the positives: the stadium is very, very impressive and the chips at Mother Hubbard’s over the road were phenomenal. The first half is probably the worst I’ve ever seen a football team play (and I watch a lot of U10 games on a Sunday). Had a great day out, but my god Spurs were awful. Rockbus2 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 As a part of his Christmas present I've just been on a weekend away in Scotland on a little football adventure with my 11 year old and it was a cracking time away. Went to Celtic vs Dundee United on Saturday and Dundee vs Hearts on Sunday before the 7 hour trip back to Hull. The experiences were amazing. Was sat in a section with the Celtic Bhoys ultras at Celtic Park and the atmosphere they created was unbelievable. Not quite on a par with the game I went to in Argentina last year but better than anything I thought I'd ever experience in the UK. Dundee was a different beast and it felt like going back in time 20 years. The little club shop/ticket office where everyone knew everyone was so delightful and the 1920s Archibald Leitch Main Stand was a thing of beauty. Both games were enjoyable and I have to say I'm a fan of alcohol being totally prohibited from the stadiums. It gave a much more family friendly vibe and didn't stop anyone from going out and having their fun afterwards. Quote

It's not too much of a surprise that no English manager has won it. Man Utd - No permanent English manager in the PL era. Arsenal - No English manager in the PL era. Man City - No permanent English manager in the Qatari era. Chelsea - Onto their third permanent English manager of their big-money era but the first, Lampard, was the choice because they were in the shit and couldn't sign anyone and the second, Potter, came into a baffling club. Liverpool - Only two Roys in the PL era. Both inherited a tricky situation though Evans did alright. Technically finished joint 2nd one season and third twice. That leaves Spurs as the only one of the "big 6" who have had and backed several English managers, particularly Gerry Francis, Glenn Hoddle and Harry Redknapp and two of those had some relative success but all started from a position absolutely miles off the title race. Ron Atkinson (92/93) and Kevin Keegan (95/96) have come closest to winning titles. Atkinson did well to have Villa in the race. Keegan should really have won it with what he built. I can't really think of anyone in the last 30 years who has nearly done it. In fact, I'd say (and I am massively reaching) that Nigel Pearson is probably the closest, on the basis that he was unlucky to get the chop at Leicester before they went on to win the title! Is it changing any time soon? Two of the big 6 have English managers at the moment, which is miraculous, but, neither are top class. There are no top class English managers. Eddie Howe is by far the best of a very mediocre bunch at the moment. And he is somehow in charge of a team that allegedly have all the money in the world and can't find a way to spend it! Quote
