Is it changing any time soon? Two of the big 6 have English managers at the moment, which is miraculous, but, neither are top class. There are no top class English managers. Eddie Howe is by far the best of a very mediocre bunch at the moment. And he is somehow in charge of a team that allegedly have all the money in the world and can't find a way to spend it!

I suppose if you look at it in terms of who's most likely to win it with an English manager, Rosenior with Chelsea would have to be the front runner.

Of course this won't happen after Chelsea sack him after 18 months so yeah you're right, Howe it is!

In fact, I'd say (and I am massively reaching) that Nigel Pearson is probably the closest, on the basis that he was unlucky to get the chop at Leicester before they went on to win the title!

I've heard this from some LCFC fans looking to downplay Ranieri's achievement after he was sacked. Seems a bit ungracious to me; I'm not altogether convinced Pearson could have done what Ranieri did. Yes, he built the team, but it doesn't follow that he'd have had them performing the way Ranieri did.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing how Rosenior does.

I'm not convinced either. It is a massive reach, as admitted. In Pearson's favour though, Leicester won 7 and drew 1 of their last 9 games the previous season, 3 of their key signings, Fuchs, Huth and Okazaki were lined up under him, the rest of their key players bar Kante were his players and almost all of Ranieri's staff were there under Pearson.

It's a massive reach because only Ranieri and the players know how much Claudio's tactics and experience mattered when shit suddenly got real but it's not inconcievable that Pearson's team, with their momentum and Kante could have done it.

Oh, absolutely - I guess, on mature reflection, I don't want to say that Pearson couldn't have done it, but rather that I wasn't a fan of Leicester fans essentially attempting to claim that Ranieri profited off Pearson's groundwork, thus downplaying his achievement.

I think that's indisputable, to be honest. Pearson was the reason Leicester were in the PL and stayed in it, was responsible for the signing of all of their key players apart from Kante - and to a lesser extent Dyer and Gray - and he established their way of playing and created the momentum.

That's miles away from winning the PL so shouldn't diminish Ranieri's achievements but, he definitely laid the ground work.

I dunno why I'm defending Pearson, by the way. The miserable bastard left us to go back to Leicester and they were relegation rivals of ours when we went to the King Power in March 2015, we were miles the better team in a 0-0 draw and then they went on to take 22 points from their last 10 games and we took only 7 from our last 9 and finished 6 points below them. Bastards.

Sorry, I meant to say "only profited" - didn't mean to downplay Pearson's work either.

Rosenoir for me is Leroy.  I haven't come to terms with someone I had in a football sticker book having a son old enough to manage Chelsea.

I’d say the main thing running against giving Pearson credit for winning the league is that he’s crap and a bit mad.

And he's always looking for a faaaight.

Tough week to be Palace. Guehi deal agreed with Man City and Glasner confirms he's off at the end of the season. Barely pays to be successful.

Glasner’s contract talks will last about ten minutes next week so Parish has probably already left Roy Hodgson on the worktop to defrost.

“… then ring Scott Dann”

Absolute bonfire of a club. It was good while it lasted.

£20m is a steal for him. Almost criminally low.

We got him for £18m but there’s a sell-on clause, so we’re losing £2m on one of the best home-grown defenders/players in the league.

Glasner’s doing the right thing getting off - we don’t deserve him with that shitshow of a board.

City truly are a cautionary tale to any other club who might wish to cheat 115 times in their chosen field. Although spending half a billion quid in a year might give us some hope they’ll be getting bummed by the league at some point.
