I sat through a Jay Lethal singles match at the last one, I’ve done my time. Don’t you manifest Bad-Collision you bastards.

Another really fun Collision, which has me kicking myself even more to know I won’t be at the Glasgow tapings. I can’t see them bucking the trend next week, I mean, when was the last time AEW had a truly bad show? I’m not sure it was in 2025, whatever the case.

That was Athena’s best segment in AEW. She still says that one thing too many, and she could certainly do with tight scripting as her delivery isn’t bad at all. The match itself should be excellent, even if the overall feud has been a bit of a step down for Storm.

Ace Austin is a really good signing. Former TNA wrestlers have, on the whole, struggled to make a splash in AEW, so we’ll see how this goes for him. The reinvention of Ricochet is one of the most remarkable turnarounds in modern wrestling. He’s tremendous.

I wish I could set some sort of warning to let me know that Roddy Strong is about to appear on screen. I can’t think of any other wrestler who has ever filled me up with dread in the way he does. I think I’d rather watch a Smackdown tag division backstage segment compilation than I would another Strong match. He’s the absolute worst.

It was great to see Harley return, even if I don’t think teams if heels should be fleeing from her. It’s also nice to see that they’ve not dropped the Statlander/Death Riders thing.

McGuinness challenging Sabre Jr was a predictable outcome, but the right choice. I’d like to see Nigel move away from the commentary desk permanently. Menard is a better option, and McGuinness still has something to offer as a in-ring character.

I liked The Outrunners vignette.

My main complaint that isn’t Roddy Strong was the absence of Max Caster this week! Glad to hear he’ll be appearing next week, but Collision doesn’t feel like Collision without his 5-minute challenge!

Dude, Matt Menard is an atrocious commentator, Nigel is leagues ahead of him. Menard offers absolutely nothing beyond bellowing "It's <insert_day_here> night boys!", he is easily the worst psuedo announcer they have.

I find Menard inoffensive, while Nigel has started to grate on me. He’s too much. There’s probably a better option (Paul Wight?) but honestly, I just want rid of Nigel. He’s really irritating.

I didn’t consider this for a second, but fuck me, that would be magical. It feels kind of probable now that you mention it, and once again I’m left regretting not going to this show. There’s a selfish part of me that would be glad if it was a random scrub like Carlie Bravo, so I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on something!

I haven’t really been keeping up with the weeklies, but is there some sort of storyline with Juice Robinson’s atrocious decision to return without the facial hair? If not, that has to be one of the most braindead decisions I’ve ever seen from a wrestler. What a downgrade.

His facial hair has more or less grown back.

He wants to be a super serious wrestler now rather than the brilliant mad muppet he was before. Terrible decision.

Im finding this who thing with Stat a bit overly drawn out.

She turned heel on Willow.

Turned face again just by saying she was (basically).

Now is seemingly turning heel again because Willow doesn't want to have anything to do with her, and Yuta does?

Feels to me like they are trying a do over on the heel turn because the first was a bit shit.

I feel the opposite. It's almost definitely me thinking too much into it, and headcanoning it into making sense, but my reading of it is:

 - Willow and Stat were a team, but Stokely got between them, and got into Stat's head, making her jealous of Willow. She turns heel, specifically on Willow (pretty much her only feud in the heel turn).

 - Stokely goes away, Stat turns back, having got any jealousy out of her system. She doesn't get why Willow doesn't immediately forgive and forget (which is itself a fun twist on the long-serving WWE trope of "we're both babyfaces now, all previous hatred now irrelevant and never happened"). She's being so nice to her.

 - Stat starts to doubt herself. Willow just wants nothing to do with her anymore, and wants to move on, but Stat can't. Tensions simmering.

 - That little rat Wheeler Yuta (who used to be a Best Friend of Stat, but now has "real" friends who are bunch of nasty twats) gets in Stat's ear. She doesn't need Willow.

 - Willow, meanwhile, has had her issues with Marina Shafir, who's in with Yuta.

 - If Stat can't make things up with Willow, maybe she can go with Yuta, and find some new focus. Which will turn her properly heel - and it'll be up to Willow to either fight her again, severing any lingering links of friendship, or actually dropping the "smile anyway" facade to reflect and actually make things up with Stat, if only to get her away from the Death Riders.

Now, practically none of that has been said out loud on TV. But there's just enough in terms of seeds that I can find a logic and a story to it all. I don't mind it.

Big fan of Thekla. Hadn't seen a second of her before AEW but I think she's great. A millennial Luna Vachon.

Hopefully they're able to get the clearance to use the song. I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that TNA tried to but were refused the rights.
