He waffled on for ages about coming back but before next summer. He ultimately announced nothing. I assume maybe something getting announced over the weekend? Yeah, this was very strange. 'Do you want another show in Scotland? Yeah? Do you want a show sooner than next Summer? Yeah? Okay bye!' He didn't even mention Timecop! Quote
Ironic Indie Lad Posted August 21, 2025 Posted August 21, 2025 Just now, Lorne Malvo said: Yeah, this was very strange. 'Do you want another show in Scotland? Yeah? If you took a drink every time Tony Khan mentioned it was the first time in Scotland...well you would be fucking pissed basically. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted August 21, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 21, 2025 Given current events, it’s no surprise at all that Tony doesn’t want to announce specific dates. WWE would immediately announce their own UK tour that coincidentally runs at the exact same time. Quote

It was such a hot crowd that he might have been pumped up, to the point he decided on a whim that they should be back sooner. Without knowing exactly what was said, i think is justva very common thing he does when trying to hype a crowd. Stateside it'd be teasing a ppv return. Quote

I’m a bit fed up of the suggestion that it’s ’just good business’, it punishes fans and forces them to choose. Plus, any attempt to sabotage a rival has the potential - if it actually succeeds - to sabotage people’s jobs too, and for what, to make slightly more money when you’re already raking it in? Fuck that approach, and fuck the greedy arseholes behind it all. Quote
Paid Members JLM Posted August 21, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 21, 2025 Final train spot was Marina Shafir. She must be about 5’7-5’8ish as she wasn’t that much shorter than me. Like all the other wrestlers, an absolute unit in person. Walking down the aisles of the train they all just look so wide. Such shoulders on these people. Even Ian Riccaboni is jacked. Same with Yuta, where relative to many on the roster he looks small, but he is a very tall and broad fellow compared to most regular folk. Quote

Everyone knew the date & city for Forbidden Door a year in advance, but the o2 wasn't announced until April or May? Does mean some extra work in figuring out dates. Made even more complicated by TK's insistence to be at every show. Quote
The King Of Swing Posted August 21, 2025 Posted August 21, 2025 MJF threatens to burn Briscoe alive: Carry on lad. Hangman hits Ricochet with a chair: Get security out there now. Good show. Dogshit angle. Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted August 21, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 21, 2025 Blows my mind how MJF goes from getting a double dropkick over so hugely, to this dross. Thank fuck Hangman is managing to mostly survive it Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted August 21, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 21, 2025 Whisper it quietly. The Champion of the Fucking World was in the worst segment of the show. I fucking hated that segment. In an all-timer year for Hangman, where he legitimate could win heel and babyface of the year, this was the first real mis-step for his character and story. I blame MJF. For someone so ridiculously talented, he’s proven to have a huge blind spot for where the line is and how quickly a gritty angle can turn into goofy, Scooby Doo bullshit. They’d nailed it. Last week was a home run. We bin off the rubbish Money in the Bank concept, Hangman looks like the clever superhero, everyone’s a winner baby that’s the truth. Madness that they reneged on it, pulling back the curtain to reveal a river of shit. Max might as well have been wearing The Devil mask. I wonder what’s going on with MJF. That’s two jarring, obvious pivots in quick succession. First throwing away everything they built up with The Hurt Syndicate, and now this, completely undermining that brilliant segment last week. I think it speaks to how much pro-wrestling has moved on from those pre-2019 years that pivots like this stand out so much more. It proves how much more respect these writers have for their audience. Ten or twenty years ago and this was the norm. Storylines would be dropped or switched at the drop of a hat because it’s only pro-wrestling, so who fucking cares. Now that bookers actually put some thought and effort into this stuff, it’s more annoying than ever when we get an echo of the Dark Days. Started to follow along and care did you, you idiot? Granted, it’s nowhere near as egregious as John Cena switching back babyface with little to no pay off. It’s not as if it was the company’s major storyline of the year, and the swan song to one of their biggest stars of all time, but still. It’s depressing how quickly this type of storytelling is creeping back in across both companies. Plus, with Cena’s heel run, they at least pivoted because it was utter shit. Here, they’ve pivoting away from the good stuff! Unforgivable! To be an AEW fan is to accept that Tony Khan goes through these weird kicks, where he comes up with an idea and then spams it to the point of parody, but even so. This might be the worst example yet. I have had my fill, Tony. Let’s not do another Disney Channel Movie kidnapping for at least two to three years. Your product will be improved ten fold. Quote
The King Of Swing Posted August 21, 2025 Posted August 21, 2025 Going back to my earlier post. The inconsistency when it comes to security breaking shit up, has been getting on my nerves for ages. Quote
Tennessee Moltisanti Posted August 21, 2025 Posted August 21, 2025 They'd never do it, but it'd be hilarious, if Hangman got Briscoe to accompany him to the ring for the match, and then he takes a slap from Briscoe at the bell, MJF gets DQ'd, so he loses his title shot. And then Hangman tells him to use his contract and he does, and then Hangman beats him. Quote

I've met a bunch over the years that I tower over height-wise but they're so weirdly wide it kinda morphs your perception of them. I remember chatting to Drew McIntyre at an ICW show once and I had a couple of inches on him but he was like twice my width. If anything the TV cameras remove weight. Quote
Infinity Land Posted August 21, 2025 Posted August 21, 2025 As more time goes by it feels like there's more truth to the difficult to work with Hurt Syndicate rumours. They haven't wrestled since All In. MJF split and rushed into a title contender spot, but making sure to keep his Gauntlet contract for whatever was originally planned. The 3-way to get the titles off them without being involved in the finish. Quote
