Quite up for tonight now. First live wrestling I have been to since the New Japan shows with the FTR v Aussie Open match a couple of years back.

Nothing announced for Collision / ROH yet.

I noticed Ishii, Shibata, Blue Panther and Hechicero are in the UK for Rev Pro but arent booked on Forbidden Door. Would be nice to see them tonight. Blue Panther especially would be a good legend to tick off!

There is the Max Caster Open Challenge for Collision, and there were hints last week of some combination of Paragon and the Callis Family. If they could save that until the main event of Collision that’d be handy for our trains back. Are they taping ROH tonight as well? If so, that’s an easy decision for whether to stay til the end or not!

This has been added for Dynamite:

Could go either way, but I’ve never seen Copeland live at a show before so I’m still excited for it. Dynamite card overall looks great.

Dynamite looks pretty full now with the Mox/Ospreay face to face, Copeland and Christian interview, hearing from Hangman and the matches. I have to assume the tag finals gets a good amount of time.

Didnt realise the Open Challenge was Collision. All signs point to Grado!

I guess we need final build for Nigel and Sabre / Fletcher and Hiromu? Callis family v Hiromu and ???, McGuiness and Garcia tag match of some kind?

When they do the joint Dynamite/Collision tapings they don't often do anything with ROH. There's not really time for it. Plus Athena & Bandido are in matches. Nick Wayne will probably appear in the segment with E&C at least. The ROH Tag & Trios titles are in limbo with Dustin Rhodes out after his surgery.

RevPro is using the Global Wars name as part of their Anniversary shows. I could see any UK ROH segments in front of a crowd happening there. Since Death Before Dishonor is happening on the 29th.

Can’t go to Forbidden Door but I am all up to date with AEW at last and currently on my way to Glasgow. I will have much to say I am sure.

Also got tickets for EVE on Saturday, where they just announced Queen Aminata is on the card! Hell yes. Billie Starkz, Nyla Rose, Julia Hart and Skye Blue also on the line up. Hopefully some other international surprises too. Very excited for that show.

Yeah, I hope everyone going has a great time. I’m still gutted about not going myself, so if you could make it sound shit even if it wasn’t, that would be appreciated!

I really, really hope they come back to Scotland next year, and if they do, I’m not making the same mistake.

Hope everyone has a great time. Very jealous. Please post writes ups and photographs.

I’m worried Grado’s going to get the proper music for the live audience, then they’ll dub it for TV. In my head, it rivals Mistico’s entrance in Arena Mexico.

Please give the Champion of the Fucking World a really big cheer. In keeping with tradition, maybe he’ll start the show speaking fluent Scotch?

Aw fuck, now AEW has announced that Bryan Danielson is going to be guest commentator tonight. I really fucked up by not going to see this, even just seeing Danielson would have been awesome!

We had to leave before the end of Collision to make the last train back, as predicted, but had a great time. The arena setting meant that even at the back of the second tier, we were way closer to the ring than at Wembley.

Thoughts on each section of the show in separate spoiler boxes. The spoiler boxes contain spoilers.

Pre-Dynamite mini-show:

Spoiler

I have to admit my heart sank a bit when I saw the ROH ring aprons.
And then a bit more when the first people out were the Infantry. But this little half hour was fun, even if I guess it was only to warm the crowd up. Though the fact it happened meant there was no way we were getting to see the whole main show.

The first nice surprise of the night was Too Cool’s music hitting and Scotty 2 Hotty coming out. I think he’s a MAGA head now, but he did the Worm, and he did the job of getting the crowd energised.

We got our Grado! Madonna and all. Great reaction for yersel. They had other plans for the Caster open challenge but like at Wembley he got his moment.

Dynamite:

Spoiler

The second nice surprise of the night was Bryan bloody Danielson. Lovely to see, and I hope he tears into that rat Yuta on commentary.

Will Ospreay’s opening promo is worrying. I know he probably is actually cleared, maybe, but it’s going to be one of those matches where you’ll now wince with every bump he takes. A bit like Danielson’s final run, in fact.

Moxley is properly intimidating in person. We were nowhere near him but in a big live environment, that cartoony swagger he does really translates well. Six man tag was fine, it was very cool to see Tanahashi albeit sad to see how painful walking seems to be for him now. Couldn’t tell who the lads with Gabe Kidd were at the end (other than Jetspeed’s Forbidden Door opponents probably?) but Mrs HG was thrilled when Samoa Joe then turned up to save the day. Well, 90% thrilled, she noted he didn’t have his towel with him. Someone did a balcony dive but directly under us so we didn’t see it.

E&C segment was handled quite well, they have a temporary arrangement to sort out each other’s enemies, that works. Third nice surprise was the return of Luchasaurus/Killswitch ! Lovely to have him back.

FTR/Brodido was very good indeed. I had no idea who’d win, and turns out AEW couldn’t decide either. Maybe a bit of a cop out but I guess if you’ve brought both teams over for the week you may as well use them.

MJF/Hangman angle was kind of what we’d all feared, in that MJF is not in fact using his contract for the match this weekend. Boooo. Hopefully Angry Hangman can dispatch him then move on to Ricochet maybe. Very exciting to see Hangman with his old music in person.

Toni Storm is massively over. Fairly sure it was the biggest reaction of the night, by a decent margin. With possibly one specific exception I’ll get to in the Collision section. The match was good - Mrs HG noted there were far fewer people using the women’s match as a toilet/drinks break than either time at Wembley. Progress!

There may have been other Dynamite stuff I’ve forgotten.

Collision:

Spoiler

It took them a little while to get Collision started which was a shame - again, maybe that would have made the difference for us getting to stay til the end.

Don Callis Family eight man tag … but not against Paragon! It was Skyflight and Takahashi. Mrs HG liked Top Flight because of how fast and nimble they were.

Our section loved. Loved. LOVED Hechicero. The block was going mad for him. Every song they could think of, rearranged with Hechicero lyrics. He acknowledged them from the apron a few times. The love-in felt genuine. It was great and will be one of the things I’ll remember most about this show. Stick him in the Continental Classic! Hechicero for champ!

Great to get to see a decent section of the women’s division live this year. Fourth(?) nice surprise was Isla Dawn. She never stood a chance against Megan Bayne but I hope they use her again, she looked good out there.

Willow and Aminata teaming was good, and Skye/Julia had a good showing as well. The Triangle of Madness entrance was crazy with all the lighting effects, might have been my favourite entrance of the night.

I didn’t think we’d get Grado again for the Max Caster open challenge - Glasgow definitely loved The Best Wrestler Alive - but I wasn’t thinking Zack Sabre Jr either. Nice surprise number 5! Of course, only there to set up a bit with Nigel but nice to see him all the same.

By this point it was getting close to the point where we had to start thinking about leaving. Ishii came out for a match and I asked if we could hang on just to see who he’d be against, and if it was nobody interesting we could probably go. Turned out it was only bloody Takeshita! Nice surprise 6!

Takeshita vs Ishii was my match of the night. It was bloody excellent and my goodness, if New Japan aren’t rocketing him to the top, AEW have to. I wouldn’t be unhappy if he dethroned Hangman. He’s so good. Great match.

So we were on the cusp of ‘there’s still the last train’ when out came Mark Andrews (nice surprise 7) and he’s against Big Bill so now we’re going to have to stay to watch Big Bill. Match was quick but the U.K. Big Bill love in continues.

We did end up having to leave partway through Gates of Agony vs Grizzled Young Nice Surprise 8s. Assuming GOA won. Don’t know what or how much happened after that, I hope it wasn’t super thrilling or exciting or memorable but we couldn’t have left it any later.

Great night at the wrestling.
