I remember some usage of "platty jubes" and "statey funes" on here. Can't remember who though.

Gonna start saying I'm suffering with a bit of the old clinny deps.

As far as I'm aware, menty b is used exactly like you've just used clinny deps, in a humourous way. Maybe someone would say people shouldn't joke about mental health, and to that I'd reply " I bet you've got a lot of followers on Bluesky. "

I wouldn't use the phrase but I'm glad they went with Maccy D's and not Micky D's which I've heard people use, and just doesn't work. It's like when my aunt used to call Coronation Street Corro when everyone else worldwide uses Corrie. Wrong.

Corro

I tried to make AEW Dyno a thing once and it failed miserably.

I genuinely like menty b, so my judgement in this area isn't the best.

I've heard Tommy K said, and Macky Ds and Platty Jubes, but if somebody started talking to me about a Jackie P I'd think they were talking about one of their neighbours. I've occasionally called a jacket/baked potato a "bakey tatey" for some inexplicable reason but couldn't possibly tell you why or where I picked it up from. Menty B sounds so horribly reductive and trying to trivialise what could be a serious thing.

Which is what Gmoney referred to when he said its mostly people experiencing it trying to find some light out of a dark situation.

Each to their own, but I sometimes think making light of what affects me is a good way of looking at it, and not trivialising it at all. I think the fact that last week I was so depressed I stared at my wall for about 3 hours quite funny, when I'm outside of it taking place. Because it is.

I've only seen people I know who suffer from mental health problems say "menty B", so I've always taken it in the "dealing with it through humour" way.

Edit to add: I've personally used "depresh sesh" for when I've felt particularly low in the past.

Quite like Jackie P to be fair, but the rest of it can get in the bin. Statey funes for fuck sake. And not to get into another regional food debate, but we call picky bits a fuddle around these parts.

Statey funes is a proper forced one as well with they 'tey' bit just making the delivery a bit cluttered. Though I put emphasis on the second T, like that matters. Shit either way.

It almost certainly was a joke originally, I think it might even have been Ruth Husko who did it originally. She's very funny.

If you go round someones gaff and they tell you that "we're just going to have picky bits for dinner" you should probably leave immediately
