This might be a repeat but years ago I was in the cinema and a fight broke out between two traveller families, which the poor young usher tried to calm down but had about as much effect as a fly trying to push an elephant out of the way. One family left of their own accord and the other stayed. That's about the high point of a viewing experience of Transformers: The Last Knight.

I went to the same cinema, which is actually one of the nicest ones locally, and was sat next to a woman with her husband and kid. She did a selfie of herself and her son at the start of the affair, which I could tolerate. Then she started recording the screen for the beginning of the film, which again I could tolerate if she was doing a "Watching X" post and wanted something to put up alongside it. But, she kept recording for a minute or two until I told her to turn it off because all I could see out of the corner of my eye was the light on her phone. She huffed and puffed as she put it away.

Going to the pictures isn't what it used to be.

I haven’t been to the cinema in about 14 years. I have bad enough social anxiety without dealing with the obnoxious idiots in the theatre who fail to have a modicum of common decency when out in a public place.

However, I’m determined to overcome my fears when Oxide Ghosts: The Brass Eye Tapes gets its next limited tour (next year I believe…), I’ve missed my chance to see that once too often already.

I had no idea this existed, it sounds incredible. Please post if you hear of any showings!

I rarely have issues with knobheads at the cinema. Then again I always go at 10am when I'm the only one in.

It's me, I'm the knobhead at the cinema, aren't I :(

My first solo trip to the cinema was in 1991 and my friend and I spent half the film getting Malteasers thrown at our heads. It's definitely not a "kids these days" thing.

Ah the days where chocolate was affordable enough to throw it around.

It’s well worth subscribing to Michael Cummings’ YouTube channel (oxide ghosts), he’s published some fascinating and rare behind the scenes stuff on Brass Eye and other projects he’s worked on, and he has promised to give an update on the next cinema showings of the film there in the not-too-distant. The oxide ghosts Instagram is good fun too.

Just had an update on this. Lloyds are going to refund me £400 to satisfy the complaint, but they will also be closing my overdraft facility on the 31st August. Which, considering my overdraft is considerably more than £400 and I'm constantly on the arse end of it, is a bit like giving me a walking stick then chopping both my legs off.

I'd better get on the blower after work and tell them about their case of mistaken identity.

I'm having a nightmare with this. I've been phoning Lloyds every few days to explain that I've never put in a complaint against them and as such I don't want the £400 refund, but I would like to keep my overdraft as I'm not in a position to get rid of it at the moment. All I'm getting back is a lot of confusion from their customer service who are saying they can't see any evidence of a complaint. This is all by the by, I'm not arsed about your broken complaints system, all I want is confirmation that my overdraft will still be in place on the 31st. But they're being very vague about this and not confirming one way or another. I've been told numerous times over the past few weeks that the complaints team will phone me to resolve this (despite the fact I HAVEN'T PUT IN A COMPLAINT) but they haven't phoned as yet, leaving me to phone and have the same confusing circular pointless conversation every few days.

It seems like the vast majority of companies I deal with now have poor customer service.

I may have misread your situation but I think the two are unrelated. They will have processes by which they periodically reassess overdrafts and change their limits. They will have actions that trigger that assesment to happen (maybe the complaint did that).  But once they are in the process of a limit change it will not be connected with the complaint even if it started that way..

I think you will have more success if you treat the two as completely separate and don't confuse the customer service teams with talk about the complaint. Just say 'I've got an overdraft I'm using, you're taking it away but I need to keep it'.

Appreciate the advice, thanks. However I did do this originally and their customer service team said they can't see any evidence that my overdraft will be scrapped. Despite the letter I was holding in my hand clearly stating that 'your overdraft facility will be closed on the 31st August'. That's when I bought the complaint/non-complaint up and I think that just muddied things even further.

I've been asking the customer service folk I've been talking to to make notes of our conversations, and I know everything is recorded, so I think at this stage it's probably easier if I just wait until the 31st, see what happens and if my overdraft is removed then phone up and explain the situation again, and hopefully the previous conversations/notes will lead to it being reinstated.

Who knows, if my overdraft is removed, I may even put in a COMPLAINT. That'll show em!

A popular burger van round my way has started a podcast.

They have a catchy title at least?
