Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted August 14 Paid Members Posted August 14 There was quite a few podcasts and video essays out about him this week which I imagine didn’t help him or his mindset. Quote

The past few weeks, I have been desperately trying to limit my consumption of social media to just here. People are just getting worse. I try not to break the Golden Rule ("NEVER read the comments"), but somehow they drag me in and I find myself grinding my teeth constantly. I'm the same. I've taken to leaving my phone away from me, I've put timers on apps and I'm also considering buying one of those Bricked devices. It plays havoc on my mental health but I just can't stop myself from going on social media. I have gotten better at not reading comments but the algorithms screw me over with what they throw at me. Members SuperBacon Posted August 14 Members Posted August 14 Its desperately sad, even more so because the issue was not of national importance and a matter that should've been kept in house. The Telegraph needs to die. Quote
Paid Members JLM Posted August 14 Paid Members Posted August 14 I’d expect openly right wing rags to milk the story for all it’s worth but the BBC did it as well. As if I couldn’t have any more disdain for that shit house of an organisation. Quote
Browser Brady Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Not familiar with this chap , RIP all the same. Why was he famous or notable ? Quote
deathrey Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) @JLMIt was a witchunt. Everyone was after him. It never would have happened if the same circumstances were applied to a middle-class white man. They never learn. Such a waste of life. My heart breaks for him and his family. Edited August 14 by deathrey Quote

He was autistic and non-verbal till the age of 12, he had global development delay and didn't learn to read or write till he was 18, he then went on to study and became the youngest, black professor in Cambridge University history. He was remarkable in every way, shape and form. Quote
Paid Members DCW Posted August 14 Paid Members Posted August 14 Poor lads life was torn apart by the media and smug commentators on social media over the last week or two. I don't think anyone deserves that treatment. He wasn't Trump or Putin like, he was an academic who may have fibbed a bit about his achievements. Very sad news. Quote
Mr_Danger Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I just hope The Telegraph and Daily Mail never get a hold of the ‘Have You Ever Been In A Fight’ thread from here. Quote
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted August 15 Paid Members Posted August 15 Getting my gallbladder out on Monday. I've had gallstones for about a year. Fucking hell, it hurts sometimes. Absolute doubled over with pain type shit. Anyone else had the old gallbladder out? Does it improve it? Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted August 15 Paid Members Posted August 15 My girlfriend had hers out and it completely sorted all the issues it had caused. Good luck matey, gall stones are no joke. Quote
Paid Members choccy Posted August 15 Paid Members Posted August 15 (edited) I had mine out a while ago. Was terrified but it totally sorted the pain out. It takes a little while to mentally adjust to the fact that the risk is gone and there’s no need to worry anymore (I’d got to the point where most things I ate caused constant fear of an attack) but it’s lovely! Couple of tips - stay as upright as you can afterwards and walk around the room as it helps avoids gas buildup. And don’t listen to anyone telling you to eat what you like (including the nurses offering all sorts of goodies!). Your digestion will likely take time to adjust so going easy, starting bland and introducing things is the safest approach. I do have slight digestion issues now (which I need to work on and find the triggers of) but it’s not constant and life is so much better. People in the know say a gallbladder attack is worse than labour pain and at times I was only good for laying uncomfortably on the floor (while trying to not throw up). It’s horrendous pain. Good luck for your surgery! For anyone else waiting for surgery, GPs and specialists won’t tell you this but lansoprazole (and similar) can help reduce and ease attacks. Worth a try if you have no contraindications. Just make sure to reduce then stop taking it after surgery (unlike me who is mega anxious and still has that fun to come!).
