Paid Members Carbomb Posted Monday at 01:04 PM Paid Members Posted Monday at 01:04 PM I remember some usage of "platty jubes" and "statey funes" on here. Can't remember who though. Quote

As far as I'm aware, menty b is used exactly like you've just used clinny deps, in a humourous way. Maybe someone would say people shouldn't joke about mental health, and to that I'd reply " I bet you've got a lot of followers on Bluesky. " Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted Monday at 01:10 PM Members Posted Monday at 01:10 PM I wouldn't use the phrase but I'm glad they went with Maccy D's and not Micky D's which I've heard people use, and just doesn't work. It's like when my aunt used to call Coronation Street Corro when everyone else worldwide uses Corrie. Wrong. Quote

Paid Members Jazzy G Posted Monday at 01:27 PM Paid Members Posted Monday at 01:27 PM I've heard Tommy K said, and Macky Ds and Platty Jubes, but if somebody started talking to me about a Jackie P I'd think they were talking about one of their neighbours. I've occasionally called a jacket/baked potato a "bakey tatey" for some inexplicable reason but couldn't possibly tell you why or where I picked it up from. Menty B sounds so horribly reductive and trying to trivialise what could be a serious thing. Quote

Which is what Gmoney referred to when he said its mostly people experiencing it trying to find some light out of a dark situation. Each to their own, but I sometimes think making light of what affects me is a good way of looking at it, and not trivialising it at all. I think the fact that last week I was so depressed I stared at my wall for about 3 hours quite funny, when I'm outside of it taking place. Because it is. Quote
King Mal the Glorious Posted Monday at 01:44 PM Posted Monday at 01:44 PM (edited) I've only seen people I know who suffer from mental health problems say "menty B", so I've always taken it in the "dealing with it through humour" way. Edit to add: I've personally used "depresh sesh" for when I've felt particularly low in the past. Edited Monday at 01:45 PM by King Mal the Glorious Quote
Paid Members Wretch Posted Monday at 01:53 PM Paid Members Posted Monday at 01:53 PM Quite like Jackie P to be fair, but the rest of it can get in the bin. Statey funes for fuck sake. And not to get into another regional food debate, but we call picky bits a fuddle around these parts. Quote
wordsfromlee Posted Monday at 02:30 PM Posted Monday at 02:30 PM We’ve always called them Jackpots. And there’s been numerous times I’ve complained that my “men’s menty B is through the roof”. Quote

DavidB6937 Posted Monday at 03:09 PM Posted Monday at 03:09 PM I was already irritated by a few things on that list. I did not know the others even existed. So basically you've just doubled my anger now. THANKS. Quote
Chili Posted Monday at 03:17 PM Posted Monday at 03:17 PM Statey funes is a proper forced one as well with they 'tey' bit just making the delivery a bit cluttered. Though I put emphasis on the second T, like that matters. Shit either way. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted Monday at 03:19 PM Paid Members Posted Monday at 03:19 PM It almost certainly was a joke originally, I think it might even have been Ruth Husko who did it originally. She's very funny. Quote
Chili Posted Monday at 03:23 PM Posted Monday at 03:23 PM Menty B I think comes from the Aussies. Quote
