To add as well, imagine in your work sitting next to the head of the company and running the company down and it’s senior employees and not being asked to leave as soon as it’s over. Punks a star, but he’s not the Austin on Bitethis before he walked out That we thinks he is.

Glad I was on spoiler/reaction lockdown because I've had to watch the show in two bits over the past couple of days. Great that I got to see it in a vacuum without knowing about any of this bullshit.

I enjoyed the show a lot.

Casino Ladder match turning into a angle was a good choice. Both this decision and turning Christian vs Jungle Boy into an angle were really positive steps from AEW in my view. Christian/JB would have been lost in the shuffle of another card which appeared on the surface to have waaaay too much on it for all of the big matches ot land.

As has been mentioned. Danielson/Jericho was the only match I felt really suffered from the crowd burn out/overly loaded card situation.

The trios titles match was fucking sensational in front of the best possible crowd for it. What an incredible match. For all of the drama at the top of the card, it's great to see that Hangman vs Omega is still a huuuuge deal in the eyes of the fans, as well it should be. The spot where they dragged their fallen partners to the corners so they could tag themselves back in was perfect.  The match was a sprint at times and it had some crazy spots, but they still made sure the significant moments counted and landed. So many great little story telling moments, a complete emotional rollercoaster of a match with the perfect finish to keep the story going.

Jade vs Athena was a bit better than I expected. Interesting to read people saying this sucked because of Athena. I actually thought it was one of Jade's better outings because of Athena. I still think Athena's character work is largely atrocious and she is one of the most irritating babyface characters I've seen presented, but I think her in ring work is fine and she did well against a still green opponent. Speaking of which, holy shit at that She Hulk outfit. Imagine being such a spectacular looking human that you can slap on some body paint, no prosthetics and still look hotter and more convincing as She Hulk than the one from the TV show. What a superstar she is.

Wardlow/FTR match felt like a strong TV match, which was elevated by Dax Harwood being the greatest guy. Not many acts or performers could pull off that post match, but Dax has fully earned it. Turns out you can be a pure old school babyface in the cynical modern era, you just have to be very very very good at it. FTR are still in a holding pattern waiting to add another set of titles to that collection. They are above this but they still came at it with everything. Wardlow definitely benefitted hugely from this, which is great as his booking has been all over the place honestly. MCMG looked good, haven't seen them in yeeears but enjoyed their performance here. Would definitely watch them vs FTR standalone if offered. Thought Samoa Joe looked very rough. Hope he's OK.

Starks and Hobbs was about as expected for me, and I think it was correct. I think Hobbs needed to beat him in dominant fashion here. Starks was already more over than Hobbs at the time of the split. Hobbs hasn't done much notable work as a singles guy yet and shouldn't be losing the first proper match in the feud. He should be the favourite against Starks in a singles match and the build has presented him as such. That big meaty spinebuster is worth protecting for a bit also, looks tremendous. Starks is emotional and wants to fight Hobbs, but it makes him reckless. He's not fighting smart because he's pissed at Hobbs, and if he doesn't fight smart then Hobbs' power is too much for him. I'd like to see Starks raising his game over time and building back up to another attempt at it. And of course eventually having some kind of escape or counter for the spine buster (not kicking out of it!) so I can pop huge for that.

Acclaimed vs Swerve/Lee was wonderful. Simply wonderful. I think the greatest triumph was that after one of the many completely heartbreaking near falls, the fans went into a chant of "Let's go Caster" instead of "this is awesome". You could hear it in the reaction to the near falls, it wasn't "ohh you got me to bite!" it was "noooo The Acclaimed didn't win!". I was so happy to hear the crowd as invested in the result of the match as I was, rather than purely impressed by the quality of it.

Bowens' selling was fantastic. Swerve has been horribly miscast as a babyface for much of this run, so it was pretty easy for him to go full heel for most of the match. I was more impressed by how easily Keith Lee eased into it. Turned from jolly bear to grumpy bear over the course of the match. I'm all for that. If the plan is for Swerve/Lee to embrace the dark side and drop the titles as heels to FTR I am on board. The Acclaimed's time will come. It would be insane to think otherwise. It will happen and I will leap out of my chair and see if I can get my dog to do scissors with her paws because nobody watches AEW with me in my house. I think they're currently just in that unfortunate position of being every guy who finished second against Usain Bolt in this tag division.

Women's four way was in a bit of a death spot. Also we have been given no reason to care. Baker had some beef with Kilynn King, Shida has been on dark mostly. It was fine but they had no hope. Nice to see everyone on board with Jamie Hayter both in the building and on here. I loved Britt pulling the ref out *and* trying to steal a pin on Hayter. Also teased going for the lockjaw on her. Had some great story beats in the match, but wish they'd try and tell any sort of coherent story with the women's title on TV instead.

I skimmed through Jericho/Danielson. Felt a bit sad to do that for a Danielson match but I wasn't invested enough to sit through it.

House of Black six man was a lot of fun. I continue to marvel at how much value Sting still adds at his age. What a guy honestly. Brody King is a beast. Miro is a beast. I echo the calls for a singles hoss-off between them.

Main event was a good fiery scrap. Liked it a lot. As others have said, I think the little detour with Mox squashing Punk so he didn't lose the belt immediately on Punk's return was probably the right call in the end.

MJF's return was electric. That pop for the reverse shot of him throwing on the scarf!

Very disappointed that there are 10+ pages in the thread discussing Punk being a dickhead rather than the show. Fucking wrestlers, man.

Is this the show where MJF returned at the end? I can't remember.

His awful fake tan on his wrist showed when he came out earlier, so I had plenty time to go Google who he was so the ending made sense

It's all a work so they can get to their first three team Blood & Guts match.

MJF, who now has another stable behind him, wins the Casino Ladder Match so has a rightful shot at Punk. Punk needing back up goes to MJF's old stable, the Pinnacle who have remained together despite Max's absence. All the while Punk is bad-mouthing The Elite and Hangman, who themselves have history together. They join back up for one a night only deal to get their hands on Punk.

Punk/FTR/Wardlow v MJF/Ass Boys/Morrissey v Kenny/Bucks/Hangan

He had the best selling T-shirt ever on AEW's shop and ProWrestlingTees - there was a national shortage of ringer tees because of how many they needed to buy up to fulfill orders.

As a truly weird aside, as someone working in custom clothing, this might not necessarily be anything to do with the shirt sales, but timing. Low cotton yields during the pandemic followed by increased shipping costs (actual boats costing more to get started up when stranded at ports during the pandemic, plus more demand than supply) followed by rising road haulage costs (Russia boycott = oil prices go up = petrol costs go up) plus increased demand (fewer HGV drivers = fewer trucks driving = less availability = higher prices) - these factors have all had a MASSIVE impact on stock of blank goods from manufacturers to vendors, and in turn vendors to decorators. Every manufacturer is thus only spending the money to produce and ship their best sellers, and hardly anything more niche than plain stock in best selling colours - long sleeve, v neck, contrast - was getting produced for fucking ages. So once they sold their initial order, they weren't able to get any more because there weren't ringer Ts to print on anywhere west of Morocco, regardless of whether they wanted 5 or 50,000. I'm assuming its Fruit of the Loom they were using because - well, wrestling companies tend to use them or Gildan virtually exclusively and Gildan havent made a ringer for ages.

But being wrestling I'm not surprised it was spun to be because THE SALES!!!1

Ironic that MJF took the spotlight away from Wardlows big night, to only have the spotlight taken away from his big night.

However, it is a huge shame that it has been overshadowed, as it was so cleverly done. Weeks of Stokely meandering about with business cards aimlessly, for it all to come together with a masterful return of MJF. Just everything about it was really, really well done, even down to the shoulder roll of the masked magician on the way down the ramp to give a little nod.

A lot of people have said that this is MJF's new stable. I'm not convinced as yet. I thought it was more of a hired gun situation. MJF doesn't need to be part of another stable, so I am hoping it isn't his and Stokely gets cracking with his lads.

They shouldn’t even be a stable, just have Stokely as a project manager who goes and gets the resources required when a big heel needs a job doing. It’s about time my trade got a career based gimmick

A typical AEW problem for this show is there was a lot of repetition of key spots, and spots with narrative significance too.

The Trios and Tag Title matches both had a result stemming from someone accidentally hitting their partner, while Jericho/Bryan and Punk/Moxley both featured the non-BCC member doing the BCC signature elbow strike spot, as well as Punk nicking Danielson's stomps
