AEW Dynamite Thread 2022

Matt's looked fucked for about a decade, but Jeff never looked too bad (when not fucked up on drugs) at all given the 20+ years of mad bumps. Finally has caught up with the poor fecker it seems. Whats AEW wellness policy craic? you'd worry when Jeff actually looks like he now needs pain pills as opposed to just abusing them. Hopefully someone is keeping an eye out for him.

The problem with that is, generally speaking, if you've had an addiction to pain pills in the past, even if you do legitimately need them, you really can't/shouldn't. I actually felt quite bad watching Jeff climb that ladder, just thinking "you don't need to do these spots every week on free TV, Jeff!"

Adam Cole face graced us yet again this week. Ugh.

Other than that, enjoyed the show a lot.

Jericho was always right about Sammy. He'll get another face run down the line, but like Cody, the tide is just turning on Sammy but unlike Cody who just went a bit mad and tried to fight it, Sammy and Tay Conti are probably going to end up a brilliant pair of utter dickheads.

FTR are the boys.

Joe looked fucking great, and if he's healthy he can be their top star imo.  He just oozes main event, big match wrestling.

The one weakness Joe has always had in his career, is that losses hurt him badly.  His character is this tough, monstrous killer - like a Brock Lesnar, and there's a reason Lesnar almost never loses.  WWE had Joe lose too many times in meaningless Raw matches and it really took the edge of his push imo.  Some characters are built around sneakiness, or guts, or cleverness, or being a technical wrestler, but if your character is that you're an unstoppable machine, losses hurt more.

So if they really want to get the most out of him, they'll use him sparingly, exactly like this outing, squashing someone spectacularly, until he's ready for the title.

That's the case with a lot of big guy wrestlers.

Joe's facials when Caster was doing his rap was great. The look of a man who thought "good points but I will still kill you"

Some people want this man to drop the title. Madness. He's a true Champion...just needs the proper challengers.

Some nice little subtle storytelling - a few weeks back Hangman was nervous about being in a Texas Deathmatch. Now he's conquered them he's the one challenging people to be in them.

He needs some of the top tier to be interacting with. Mox for example Wouk’s loose nothing on the losing end of a Hangman title match. Punk seems to be next, and he doesn’t need the belt either. Get a few big notches on Hangman’s belt before he sets the next guy on his way.

Yeah, Cole just isn't up to scratch and they haven't really built him up for it either.

Get Hangman with the big boys and the guy will look like a mega star. He showed with Bryan he can rise to that challenge

If Hangman is as nice a guy in real life as he appears in media, then someone needs to have a word with him. Just because they're your friends doesn't mean they need to be your equal on screen. Despite this whole angle and Cole's career journey, he isn't on Page's level and hasn't done enough to warrant this position. The only thing this feud has done is demonstrate just how far Page has come. Confident asskicker Hangman should be making short work of skinny Adam and his comedy brand-burying mates.

Don't know why everyone is complaining about Adam Cole. He's over as fuck, and gets a massive reaction from even the most tired and worn-out Rampage crowd. You can have a go at him for looking weedy, his utterly dreadful Panama Sunrise, and his reliance on NXT am-dram tropes, but you can't blame AEW for going with an established and popular main eventer as a contender for the top title during a PPV gap. This idea that Cole is just some mid-carder with nothing to offer on an upper-card level is very silly.
