Of course, it's long been a myth that they took the belt off Bret and got him out of the Rumble PPV because they caught wind that Bret (and he admits this) was sending out feelers to WCW - it's bollocks, they agreed it weeks before. Bret says Vince laid out the grand plan to him at the This Tuesday In Texas tapings in San Antonio early December that he would lose it to Mountie and Mountie would lose it to Piper at the Rumble, facilitating the big Piper vs Bret match at Mania VIII to really cement Bret - before losing it to Shawn at SummerSlam 92 (twas the plan). If anything had been any kind of consequences for the office knowing Bret had made overtures to WCW, then he wouldn't have been back on the road getting cheques 7 days after his "bout of the flu" and in all likelihood they might even have cancelled the Piper match or let him go.

Just watching No Mercy 1999 (not the UK one) on Netflix, and there’s a Women’s title match or Ivory va Moolah. I’m not sure if it’s my tired eyes or not but from the moment Moolah comes out with Mae Young, have they sped up the footage so it looks like they are moving faster?  The match seems to be way faster than I remember her moving. Need to know for my own sanity, otherwise think my eyes are going funny!

Went back to check my copy of No Mercy for you. From bell to bell its 2 mins 57 seconds. Guess you can go back and rewatch it (lucky you) and time it to see if its any faster.

I'm not 100% sure if this is how it works. but might it be due to the difference in UK vs US frame rates? I've certainly had US import DVDs in the past where it seems like the wrestlers are moving much quicker than I'd expect and it takes a few minutes to get used to. If it's a short match, it'll be especially jarring.

I’m gonna have to rewatch and time it on Netflix. It just looks like those old clips of England winning the World Cup in 66 where all the players are running around like a scene from Benny Hill

Every shitty wrestling social media page has speculation on the "imminent" Cody heel turn and how/when it's going to happen. 

Am I the only one who can't see it happening? After such a big a turn as Cena's was this year, is turning the next biggest babyface likely? Is this an actual thing which most people expect to happen or is it all just fanboy speculation?

People online pick up on absolutely anything and manage to turn it into something. I'd say the success rate is very very low.

Putting Cody up against Jey, and then his interactions against Sami and Randy etc.. I think that naturally gets some people thinking it could be the catalyst for a heel turn at this point.

I mean some people have wanted the Homelander type Cody for a while anyway.

The real question is from a business perspective whether they believe a Cody turn at this point is a good idea or not. And if for whatever reason they didn't do it before and went with Cena, are things really much different now to change everyone's minds?

It probably also depends on how they want to end this Cena run. Does he stay heel to the end? Or does something happen and he ends his run as a face?

Lots of moving parts really. All going to be speculation until anything happens. I've no doubt a Cody heel run will be on the table at some point but they'll want to pull the trigger at the right time. It could be where they go after Cena as the next big thing but could easily not happen anytime soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if they sacked the platform off like more are doing now, there's a million reasons why but recently the CEO just dumped 600 million into an AI defence company.

Why in subtitles on Netflix (I think this happened on WWE Network too) whenever any one on screen says “the World Wrestling Federation” it gets captioned as “World Wrestling Entertainment”?

I obviously know WWE had the spat with the WWF, but I’d thought that would only apply to the use of the initials. Why does the full name (which is never going to be confused for “World Wildlife Fund”) changed?

Assume its some sort of AI/Machine learning to automatically change that when detected.

The Lapsed Fan do that in their podcast, too. They'll read old articles but say WWE and Entertainment instead, it seems a bit daft.
