Juan Cena.

Christmas Raw was Christmas Raw. Throwaway, easily digestible, the perfect bit of background viewing to have on whilst you tackle the Boxing Day recycling.

Funny that the reasoning they gave for Austin Theory wearing a mask was that he wanted people to “judge his actions before seeing his face.” He should’ve kept the mask on. First week back and I’m instantly reminded of how dull and shit he is. In the same way it’s funny to watch the evolution of Android Weirdo, from Vince to Cena to Cody, this feels like the evolution of dull, shit wrestler who stays around for decades with almost nothing to show for it, from Orton to Seth to Austin Theory.

Main events featuring Austin fucking Theory doing boring, methodical bullshit. Wild how quickly the Venn Diagram of Vince McMahon and Triple H’s booking approach became a single circle.

Rayo Americano now the second best thing Pete Dunne has ever done behind playing the Brummie Scrappy Doo. He was good here, with a surprisingly good physique in the Lucha gear. He should bin his mum’s swimming costume for good.

Becky Lynch doing the Trump parody character is quite fun. I wonder if anyone brings it up when Hunter’s round the White House sucking him off. Although I wouldn’t be shocked if none of those morons have even realised what she’s doing.

Gunther remains the highlight of the show. What a spectacular prick. I laugh every time he does the, “You Can’t See Me,” taunt. That stare down with Punk felt like real money now the spectre of Seth isn’t looming over everything for at least another few blissful months.

Funniest thing about the Gunther angle is that he did nothing wrong! Man did his job and won a match. Wrestlemania direction now seems clear. Gunther, the man catching heat for doing nothing wrong, against Cody, the maniac who’ll lose his rag and invade your home over fuck all.

Gunther opening his main present Christmas morning, this nutcase jumping out with a knife.

Nah, Punk accidentally hit Cody during War Games, I’ve seen it now. “Path to WrestleMania” Illuminati confirmed.

That main event was outstanding and so good seeing the usos back together again however........ them winning the belts is shocking and confusing with them teasing jay turning for months and months here and there like a multiple personality victim

But not arsed that match was incredible and proof they still have it.

I've been trying to figure out what The Vision are missing, because there's something that isn't quite clicking.

I was thinking about The Dangerous Alliance, and it occurs that with them in theory bring the biggest ticket in town, there should be a veteran in there, even if just to eat the pins, to balance put the youthfulness of the group.

So I suppose my question is who could fill that role. Ideally a Bobby Eaton-like veteran who won't pull too much focus but adds to the act overall. But who?

Every time I see Austin Theory I can’t help but think of the allegations made against him. I won’t hold my breath, but I hope they were investigated very, very thoroughly given their grave nature.

Even if they did, I don’t know why they persist with them. He’s rubbish. There are plenty of promising young wrestlers in NXT who could enhance that stable, if the idea is a group of fresh, young faces. They’re short-sighted in making it an all-male group too, it could be the making of someone who has struggled to get over such as Giulia.

I don’t remember Nikki Bella being this noticeably bad during her previous run, but perhaps the quality of the women’s roster is so high now she simply can’t keep up with the ambitious matches the wrestlers look to have.

Their short-sighted main event was very good, and once again shows that the best way to use Jey Uso is as part of a tag team, that hides his deficiencies. He’s not a bad wrestler, but he is a bad singles wrestler. Making him World champion was a huge mistake, and I suspect they’ve recognised that now.

The only name that really springs to mind is Finn Balor, if the Judgement Day hadn't overstayed the welcome for too long already.

As a heel he's shown to bend the rules but in his own right he's a former Universal champion, won the middle belts, NXT, tag team and is a solid in ring hand.

All it would take is Dom to split away from Judgement Day and you could have Balor (and even JD) cosying up to Heyman to keep themselves in the spotlight storyline wise. Gives a legit tag team to the ranks while also having two guys who could eat pinfalls to build up challengers but also beat the lower card.

I don't think we've ever had Punk vs Balor? That alone feels like it would make a great TV main event.

Not that I really want to see this, but Finn has plenty of history with Seth too, so there's logic there if they wanted to go with it.

But would be nice to see Finn get a bit of a solo run rather than shoving him in another group. While he's not my favourite wrestler to watch, he can be a good character if he's not going all demon.

Best thing you can say about Austin Theory is that he so clearly, demonstrably, doesn’t have it that standing onscreen with Bron Breakker, it further emphasises how much Breakker does have it and is taking it all the fucking way.

It’s enough for me to wonder if they’ve done it on purpose. Sticking Breakker with a bunch of going-nowhere, destined-to-fail Paul Heyman guys (a flock of Cesaros? Gaggle of Curtis Axels?), Bron looked like an absolute superstar by juxtaposition. I’d already be scripting him to murder the lot of them before Wrestlemania.

Whole thing reminded me of Freshers Week, where lads who’ll definitely not remain friends go out for that first night simply because they randomly share a flat. Austin Theory with his rubbish tan, awkwardly shaved head that doesn’t suit him and leather jacket he’s obviously never worn before. He looked completely out of place. A man so desperately trying - and failing - to look cool. Whilst Breakker is the real deal. These men would never be mates longterm. Austin Theory would quit uni by the second semester. Breakker would be Shagger of the Year.

I believe the correct collective noun is a murder of Shows.
