Jericho’s definitely on his way in. Adam Pearce saying, “break the walls down,” in his pre-show Twitter video, Corey Graves calling Paul Heyman, “The Learning Tree,” and everyone spamming Codebreakers and Boston Crabs all over the shop. Definitely the best case scenario for everyone involved.

The only thing that makes me a bit uncertain is the fact he’s still on the AEW roster page, which is a bit unusual if they know he’s imminently WWE-bound. I do wonder if Khan has added time to his contract given that he took a break, keeping him in the sidelines that little bit longer.

Jericho showing up on dynamite would be hilarious in fairness.

Can't think of anything less funny. The four Doinks at Survivors 93 is Seinfeld by comparison. The desperate old MAGA bastard better turn up on the big Saudi Shitshow. There's not a Russo Swerve in history more painful than this would be.

I bet Jericho would have loved to have been on the Stranger Things crossover. Tagging himself on to something almost relevant, coming out to metal music in a Hellfire Club shirt? Hiding under a mask as a Demogorgon? He must be gutted.

Wouldn’t blame AEW if they added time on to stop him debuting at the Rumble, though if I was Jericho I wouldn’t want to anyway, he’s not winning it so might as well turn up in the build up to/at Mania

CM Punk looked absolutely dreadful in that main event. Old, knackered, slow and sloppy, I’m more convinced as time goes on that the Hell in a Cell with Drew was the last truly great match of his career. Man looks washed.

He also looked fucking furious throughout, proper Randy Orton Sulk Face. I assumed it meant he was losing, so when he won that made it all the more interesting. I wonder what pissed him off?

Did he get the news that he’s working Jericho at Mania? Seth was reportedly backstage, did they inform Punk of Seth’s return date, and how they’re going to drag that feud out for another nine months? Or was he just annoyed trying to work a normal, calm match with an absolute nutcase in Breakker?

You’ve never seen a bigger clash in styles, Punk hobbling around, Bron sprinting into everything, doing anything he can to land on his own head. Seeing Punk trying to calm him down and save both of them from serious injury was like when your toddler has smashed in a packet of Smarties and keeps finding the most dangerous things to do. “No Bron! We do not jump off the couch into the Christmas tree!” Remember when Punk thought Hangman was going to shoot on him? I bet this still felt more dangerous.

That’s the funniest part. Regal clutching his pearls when someone takes a bad bump on an AEW show, yet their most pushed and promising guy in Bron Breakker is a complete nutter who seems more determined to break his neck than Peak Kota Ibushi.

But yeah. It’s now or never. If they don’t do Cody vs. Punk at this year’s Mania I’m not convinced they’ll get another chance. Fragile ego. Fragile body. Weak mind. Weak spirit. Hanging on by a thread. If this Breakker feud continues the final Bret Hart tribute spot will end up being a wild, manic former football player kicking his head out of his head.

Saw a lad in town at the weekend with one of these jumpers on. I nearly crashed my car rubber necking what I thought was a WCW jumper!

To be fair on Regal, he may well be saying exactly the same thing behind-the-scenes to WWE wrestlers taking that kind of bump. He’s never struck me as someone who isn’t sincere when it comes to that kind of thing.

That seems the most likely option for me, unless they have him lose to Gunther. Their roster is so thin that it’s hard to see what else they could actually do if he’s to remain champion, short of running the triple threat once more, but with a title on the line. I’m expecting another underwhelming ‘Mania card personally, but I hope they prove me wrong. There are interesting things they could do (Dom Mysterio wrestling for a world title, for example), I just don’t expect them to do any of them.

Agree with this, I said aside from Breakker vs Punk the show wasn't good but in reality I mean aside from Breakker for the most part, Punk was just 'in' the match, and looked weak.

People moan about AEW when it comes to suspension of disbelief, and I know for story purposes there is a far more significant time for Breakker to go over (although story purposes and good executions isnt WWEs strong point anymore) but you look at Breakker and you look at Punk and you think how on earth is Breakker losing to this guy...

Imagine showing someone wrestling for the first time and its that match, no wonder a lot of people cant be bothered. We all know what wrestling is, and if we want true realism then watch something else, but come on.

As I mentioned I know a bog standard RAW isn't exactly feasible for Breakker to get the belt but when you've got an absolute physical specimen who is strong as a bull losing to a guy who looked as if he had all the resistance of an empty crisp packet in the wind it all just gets a bit silly.

I just remembered Jericho is potentially going back to WWE under the regime of a very petty man who absolutely loathes him and now has even more power.

Anyway, it'll be fine. Hope there's a bit on Unreal where Paul talks about all the Jericho references they dropped and how it was building to something bigger and how smart it was. Christ, he can't recover after RJ City absolutely ripped the piss out of him. Brutal.

@I Bent My Wookie Great write up. Feel free to do more. However I’m 99% certain that Gunthers backstage appearance had piped in boos. Based on how the sound abruptly ended and there was a feedback after and by the actual reaction when he came out. Yes there were boos, but not nuclear heat. Speaking of which I thought his promo with AJ stunk. How can you get slapped and then just angrily put your foreheads together.

1 year anniversary, Stranger Things crossover, big title match AND Jericho teases?!? Thought it was time to give Raw another shot. Thought the opening was good and the stage looked interesting. Then Corey and Graves jumped out the van. Opening match was decent but some very scary bumps. As others said I hope Regal was waiting for them in Gorilla to give them a bloody good telling off whilst wagging his finger.

I was shocked how sloppy the show was. Every match had botches which I know happens, but some of them were absolutely bizarre. Like thishttps://x.com/wrestleclips/status/2008358403706364252?s=46

And I know some of you are high on Bron, but that guys not ready to be the main guy. Punk looks knackered and it just didn’t work as a match.

No Jericho, no cast from Stranger Things, no bueno. I’ll try the Rumble

@RedTwoster Regal, sincere? The guy who asked Tony for his release while he was visiting his mum in hospital because Paul was back in charge and was tapping people up… no. Also why did he put that message out just after an AEW PPV but not after Survivor Series when Bron took a similar bump?

@Hannibal Scorch thanks mate, yeah it was type as it happens so I think once I watched Gunther walk around a ring for 3 minutes I had completely zoned out on the sound and if it was heat or not. I did like his promo though, he's walked round for weeks being the playground bully that thinks hes untouchable, like an Austrian Nelson Muntz in early Simpsons. As soon as AJ stood up to him he panicked and ran because it wasn't on his terms, but next week he'll kick his head in.

That Maxxine botch is what I meant for the shoulder blade compressor type move, like a reverse wing clipper? I feel if she had made more of an effort to push Lynch's arms together it would have looked like it would at least hurt, jarring the blades and give reason to fall towards the ropes.

Watching at 1am after work and people watching fresh does have a different take though. What I may have thought was Kairi bumping great may have actually been a fair few head drops for example.

I do find merit even now in Punk winning last night. He was as I said in full Ol' Yeller mode and Bron should have took him out to the woodshed, but instead got ahead of himself, kept trying to punish him, got a bit too cocky and then got caught by a lucky shot. He did look absolutely banged up and rough though, and I didn't even notice pissed off face, just generally thought that's how he is these days.

Because he works for WWE, can speak directly to wrestlers in that company and those in charge, and seems too professional to post about the company he works for online. As far as I can recall, he didn’t do that about AEW while he was there, and even in the post you’re referring to doesn’t mention them by name. If he has concerns about wrestlers repeatedly taking that kind of spot, he has every right to say that. I don’t think there’s any conspiracy or attempt on Regal’s part to make AEW look bad.

As for asking for his release, he also gags every right to do that. People should be able to quit their job if they are unhappy, and move elsewhere. And it certainly seems to have been amicable, with Regal going about it the right way - Tony Khan hasn’t been shy about keeping wrestlers who want to leave under lock-and-key, and that’s not what happened here.

Yeah I really enjoy Regal, but he's a canny rat stooge. He's not at a Terry Taylor level, but it's why he's survived. He'd tell you so himself if you had an hour spare after he tells you repeatedly that he's not a hard man.
