Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 28, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 28, 2025 HBK retiring Flair didn't turn him heel. As with anything in wrestling (or anything ever), it ain't what you do, it's the way that you do it. I'm sure they'd know how to make it more a "passing on the torch" moment than an "Old Yeller" moment. Quote
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted January 28, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 28, 2025 That McDonagh bump was scary. Him being allowed to carry on after that reeked of the Sammy Guevara/Matt Hardy situation in AEW. Even if there was time for a quick medical assessment, that can’t have been sufficient. He should have been taken backstage for a thorough examination. All in all, it was another good show - I thought Roman Reigns was supposed to appear on this episode, but I guess not. Zelina Vega moving to Smackdown presumably means that Aleister/Malaki Black will be turning up there also. I hope they keep him away from the Wyatts. I continue to be intrigued by the Chad Gable/Lucha angle. I guess we’ll find out who the mystery person is next week. Karrion Kross continues to be a highlight for me, and I’ve warmed to the idea of Sami turning heel; although I’m not certain it’ll happen. But I feel like it’s at least possible, after the second ‘accident’. The heat for Logan Paul approached Vickie Guerrero levels - I can see why they’re apparently keen to put him in a title match at Wrestlemania. Having him beat Gunther may well be the right move. Paid Members Callum1993 Posted January 28, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 28, 2025 If I had to make a prediction now I’m saying Logan to win the Rumble. Reigns and Punk can take each other out of it. Logan goes under the bottom rope. Cena thinks he’s won then Logan sneaks back in and eliminates him. Big heat. Quote

I've no real preference on when, but they'll never get another chance like this to turn a megastar heel. They're pissing top babyface talent for the next 6 months to a year. A Cody heel run - and let's face it the man's a natural heel - could be superb. I want him to turn heel on Cena, personally. I'd be mortified if "the big heel turn" will be for anyone other than CM Punk. Quote

I could absolutely see that happening given Logan Paul’s comment about ‘working smarter’. Cena can always secure his title shot at Elimination Chamber. Quote
Dr. Alan Grant Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 My current excitement levels for the Rumble can only end in disappoint I fear. One of my overriding thoughts following that Raw was how bad the current tag division is. A-Town Down Under (on a par with No Quarter Catch Crew for worst team name) are awful and always will be. I don’t care about AOP, War Raiders, any combo of Judgment Day, MCMG or DIY. I like American Made but they had zero crowd reaction when they were on screen. Garza and the other bloke, the LWO and Street Profits are ice cold. Pretty Deadly are fun in backstage skits, but utterly forgettable when the bell rings. The New Day are the only ones who can hold my interest at the moment. From the few episodes of NXT I’ve seen recently, there doesn’t seem to be anyone there that would add much to the main roster. I don’t really know what the answer is, without throwing some random singles together who aren't doing anything of note and hoping for the best. Quote

Gooner Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 Really enjoyed the Punk and Rhodes get together. Rhodes was coming across as someone struggling with all the pressure of being the champion and Punk leaning into it with his own past experiences. It will happen sometime down the road as they continue stirring the pot with what will happen at the Rumble. I'm not sure what route they will go down as I expect whoever wins the Rumble to go for Rhodes over Gunther, so if The Rock isn't going to wrestle at WrestleMania, I'm leaning towards Cena winning the Rumble, Punk/Reigns take one another out and it's Rhodes vs Cena for the title and Reigns vs Punk. Paid Members Supremo Posted January 28, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 28, 2025 Bonkers that they have something as hot as Punk vs. Cody and I still don’t think that’s a Wrestlemania match. Real dick swinging stuff to be able to keep that in the back pocket for something like Summerslam. Sick to fucking death of all the celebrities they keep focussing on. Shades of Wrestlemania 11, or the Guest Host Era, only they’re actually hot now, so don’t need to be so desperate at trying to look cool and popular. Triple H syndrome, isn’t it? Can’t even be successful normally. Still finds a way to be a loser. Quote
