Ah balls, I’ve just had a thought. Is Alberto Del Rio still a head case?

He's currently trying to be on his best behaviour as AAA's heel World Champion and, if you can believe it, is even shitter and more washed up than you'd expect.

Last thing I expected when I came in this thread after watching Raw was a discussion about Golga. Anything can happen in the WWE (Raw thread)!

I think I'd put the title on Jey Uso on Saturday.

It's not Gunther's fault, necessarily, but his title reign feels proper bargain basement. He's being booked as fluffy-hair-big-tits-and-bad-suits era Triple H, but without the high level opponents to make it feel worth anyone's time. The belt still feels like a participation prize, and the one time he did face anyone good he got beat and had a crisis of confidence over it.

Jey Uso, for all his flaws (ie I personally think he's a terrible promo and phenomenally boring wrestler), remains almost astonishingly over. His entrance on Raw was absolutely money.

You could have fun with him as the Participation Champion for a month or two before a big nasty heel steals his thunder. There's loads of good options too; Drew, KO after he's had his deserved winged eagle title taken from him, even CM Punk turning heel after cashing in Heyman's favour.

Or at Mania they could really lose their heads and do something they never do anymore and have a wild six pack challenge for the title between Rollins, Drew, Jimmy, Jey, Sami and KO. That'd be fun. Stick a ladder up if you must, or a cell, or something nutty.

Maybe even have Goldberg cost Gunther on Saturday if the old sod is available, start setting up Gunther for that and then hopefully he's heated back up for the second half of the year.

Yeet.

As much as I want Gunther to have a decent title run, I'm not completely against this as a short term option, especially with this belt.

Quite often it's difficult to strike at the right moment. For example, I think TNA waited too long on the Joe Hendry thing. Maybe I'm right or maybe I'm not. Maybe it just doesn't matter, but there was quite a buzz and there was a feeling of when to capitalise on it.

As you say - Jey is presented as a megastar right now and the crowds are absolutely into it wherever they go. Is he the best promo? Hell no. Is he the best in ring? Not even close. But sometimes you just have something.

In a world where having two titles is often a questionable decision, it does have its benefits and allows for some different booking of the titles.

Honestly, Gunther himself should be campaigning for this. The Title run has been such a wash out, with so little to be excited for on the horizon, that he’d be better off having Goldberg cost him the belt, building to that match at Mania. What’s the other option? What’s the potential Mania match if he remains Champion? Fucking Seth?! No thanks.

However, I’m not saying Jey should carry the belt into Mania. Not a chance. But another big moment like when he won the Intercontinental Title would be nice. Really sets him up for when freshly heel-turned CM Punk can steal it from him. And then Punk vs. Roman can be for the Title. Like it always should have been. Like it always was going to be. Balance has returned to The Force.

I've never really dug the Uso's as people I enjoy match wise, but that matters little when Jey Uso seems so loved by the audience. Mankind '99 him the belt and then do what @Supremosuggested. A transitional world title reign can actually work and benefit. The only people it would upset are the online gonks who think short title reigns are burials because they're thick. Give him the run!

Agree on Uso winning the belt, then Gunther/Goldberg at Mania can happen.

Punk vs Roman to be runner up champion sounds horrendous though.

Get one of them beating Rhodes at EC and have it for the proper belt.

For the participation belt I like the idea further up, have Jey, Drew, Seth, and a few more in a 6 pack challenge for it, at Mania, just don't make it a ladder match.

My top end Mania card would then look like this..

WWE Title - CM Punk vs Roman Reigns

World Title - 6 Pack challenge - Jey Uso vs Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre vs 3 others

Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens

Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton

John Cena vs Logan Paul

Gunther vs Goldberg

World Title - 6 Pack challenge

I'd like to think random multi-mans for the top titles at WrestleMania is over. The Chamber exists for six-way clusterfucks.

Boo.

Unless the plan is to try a complete rehabilitation of the new big gold belt with Roman v Punk, then I'd rather they just chucked all the gimmicks and shite at it.

Any combination of Gunther, Jey Uso, Damian Priest, Seth Rollins or the like doesn't a Mania title match make anyway.

Either give it a one on one feud worthy of a Mania main event or just go wild with it. Protecting the sanctity of the one on one feud for Mania just to do an undercooked champion in Gunther versus literally anyone else on the roster is a waste of time, and booking based on abstract principle alone.

Give me big stars, or give me clusterfucks. As I believe was first said during the American Civil War.

I'm probably just tainted because of my firm belief that night 1 will be Gunther vs (Rumble winner) Cena.

Again, lets hope not.

When Cena goes for the "record" it should be for the WWE title, not that one.

I personally don't think Cena needs to go for the belt at Mania, plenty of time to tell that story.
