I do like Penta a lot, but I have always disagreed about him being this big solo star and how he and Rey Fenix were better as singles. It's not for me, I always preferred them as the Lucha Brothers. I'd actually say Fenix has the better chance of being a solo star, but parts of his body are made of crispbread. Penta has the look, Fenix has all the jazz to him. I'd very much like to see what a big heel Penta does because I've heard a lot about that and only saw little interesting glimpses when he was working for another group.

From all the descriptions on here, it just sounds like the Lucha Bros. should be less a tag team and more a feud.

I can't believe 14 years have nearly passed since they started hoping Sin Cara would replace Rey as the king of selling masks. Or Rey Mascarillas.

I'll be honest, Penta wasn't the worst part of his second match on Raw. Yes, Penta did a Canadian Destroyer that sent Dunne rolling to the floor so he couldn't go for the pin straight away. But Dunne did a sunset driver straight into the pin, even though he wasn't winning with it.

That's the difference. They're technically different moves.

Of course whether you choose to buy into that or not as a viewer is another thing but yeah. Theres some slight consistency there.

 

Respectfully, I disagree. They might start differently,  but surely the receivers head is driven into the mat whilst betwixt the givers legs. (Not sure I'd imagined writing this on a wrestling board.)

My thoughts exactly. Especially when that move has been 'banned' and there's a huge storyline about it ongoing.

You can disagree - I'm not giving my opinion on the impact of the moves, just stating the facts. They're literally called different names. That's why in WWE land it's not being treated the same as the "piledriver" that they've "banned" over the years. You'll have to take it up with the WWE board as to whether it makes any sense or not ? but that opens a whole can of worms because I'm sure there's a ton of stuff far more dangerous than a piledriver that people have been fine to do over the years.

I’ve just got around to watching this week’s show. I never want to see Michael Cole yeeting ever again. Pat McAfee, fine. But nobody else. If Cole does it again, I want Barrett to smack the shit out of him. Jey’s entrance is always incredible to watch. Like others have said, I’m all in favour of him having a little run with the belt. If your nickname is Main Event, you should probably be the champ (even if it’s not THE champ) at some point. Gunther vs Goldberg or Cena are both matches I’d want to see, before he slots back into the title scene. I’d like to see Gunther and Cody again at some point too. Roman and Punk as well. There’s still so many juicy options for him.

Urgh, JBL. Bring back Graves.

Kofi minus a moustache is amazing. 

She’s terrible in the ring, but I still believe Nia Jax is hilarious. Just look at her. Like she fell out of an aeroplane and splatted.

The Rumble is filling up nicely. It would be a nice change of pace if they stacked it with as many top stars as possible and limit the amount of shitarses and surprises. Goldberg and Cena, fair enough. The Hurricane and Santino, no thank you. 

I used to love Pete Dunne in NXT. He was probably one of my favourite wrestlers at the time. Now I wouldn’t blink an eye if he upped and left or was future endeavoured. I’m enjoying Penta still and will continue to do so until he starts having those Young Bucks-esque matches and I tune out. 

Punk’s promo in the crowd was great. Luckily it didn’t end with him lamping someone behind him again.

Damage Ctrl and Pure Fusion Collective had a match. PFC look great all in black, but why would anyone care. Zoey Stark had a few impressive moments last year after she split from Trish, I hope she gets to do a bit more down the line. Shayna’s beyond saving though.

Looking ahead to the Rumble (thread due any day now surely), if they throw in Roman, Cena, Sami, Drew, Seth, Priest, Punk, LA Knight, Jacob Fatu, Solo, Bron Breakker, Jimmy, Jey, Logan Paul, Dominik, Rey, Kofi, Woods, Penta, Ludwig Kaiser, Sheamus and if they’re cleared, Orton, Styles and Bronson Reed. That still leaves Gunther, Cody and KO and whatever happens to them in the meantime. Maybe a Trick Williams or Oba Femi appearance. Could be an all timer Rumble. Or they disappoint me by filling it with the likes of Tozawa and a War Raider. Booo.

I agree with the general sentiment but I'm not having the specifics. Hurricane and Santino are both ace and we'd be lucky to have them show up. Rather have both of those doing a recognisable bit then getting eliminated than the worst Uso cousin and LA Knight

I realise I’m very much in the minority, but I’ve never liked Santino. If they have to do legend spots, I’d prefer if it was someone we haven’t seen show up time and time again. Ken Shamrock was my go-to wish for years, but that time has probably passed now.
