I love the idea of somebody watching a musical, pretty much any musical, and being surprised it's got queer elements. "Margaret, get me my complaining gloves, there's a gay in this musical". I can't stop thinking about the bloody film. It's warmed my soul. Quote

Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted November 28, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 28, 2024 I'm obviously not going to watch it but I'll allow it because it's annoyed all the right people. Quote
Mr_Danger Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 He just set the bar too high. The gammons can’t forget this colossus of heteronormativity and machismo. Quote

Paid Members WeeAl Posted November 28, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 28, 2024 Is the Dirty Dancing movie considered a musical? I don't recall the leads breaking into song instead of speaking to expand the story. Also, the soundtrack is actually good. Well, apart from Jennifer Grey's sister. Quote
Merzbow Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Oddity (2024) A weirdly paced start with some suspect acting but by the second half it becomes a very effective supernatural horror/revenge thriller. It's a good little Irish outing, I've been pleasantly surprised by a lot of horror this year with even the flawed films offering something special. Well, except for Maxxxine which was just trash. To me Westworld is a horror https://www.joblo.com/the-test-of-time-westworld-1973-292/ and A Star is Born is a musical. You dont agree, that's fine however quite capable of having my own views ta. Ps Musicals are Shit. A reminder that this sort of shit has a thread and one of the funniest posts ever on here Quote

Paid Members LaGoosh Posted November 30, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 30, 2024 Smile 2 - the rarest of gems. A horror sequel actually better than the original. This is tons of fun and very well directed. Quote
Merzbow Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Bliss (2019) Oh it's trash but it's the kind of trash that's made just for me, take a sludge metal listening and Gaspar Noe watching edgelord and let him make a vampire drug flick. I actually really liked the lead actress, she took a dodgy script and went feral with it as the anxiety inducing final act sped up. Quote

How does it compare jumpscare-wise to the 764 that were in the original? 38 minutes ago, Merzbow said: Bliss (2019) Oh it's trash but it's the kind of trash that's made just for me, take a sludge metal listening and Gaspar Noe watching edgelord and let him make a vampire drug flick. I've seen two and hated them both! Edited November 30, 2024 by Devon Malcolm Quote
Merzbow Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I feel like I wouldn't actually like his other films at all, I was just took in my the Noe inspiration on this one. They don't shout Merzbow Bait to me. Quote

Significantly less! It's definitely not as jump scare focused as the first and even has a sense of humour in the third act. Quote
Paid Members JLM Posted November 30, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 30, 2024 I was also going to give Smile 2 a miss as I thought the first one was pretty rubbish. Saw a two word review for it that simply said “Shit Follows” and that is exactly how I felt about it. Will have to give number 2 a chance though, hearing a lot of people say it’s significantly better. Quote
