Paid Members Carbomb Posted May 7, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted May 7, 2021 One also for the TIL thread, but I just found out that Lisa Maffia's name is her actual birth name.

Mr_Danger
And now I’ve just learned that Romeo’s real name is Marvin Dawkins and not Romeo Dunn.

cobra_gordo
Just had a random memory of being 9 or 10 and seeing a report on Calendar News about a fella who had found an unexploded World War 2 bomb in his garden who had the most appropriate name of Gordon Bennett.

There was even a (very decent) hip hop duo called The Nonce. Imagine if you walked into a record shop here and asked for 'The Nonces' new album. It would take them ages to figure out who you mean.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted July 6, 2021 Paid Members Share Posted July 6, 2021 Think it's quite an old word - fairly sure I read it in a Shakespeare play once. "For the nonce" meant "for the time being", I'm almost certain.
