I've not had one as a reformed adult with impeccable taste, however they are absolutely stellar. CHEESE ON for extra thickness. Round here parts up north you tend to find a few of the chippies usually always do a bit of doner, pizza, even wraps. However, you tend to find anything that moves away from the traditional chippy menu is rubbish. Also, I've had three red pudding suppers since this thread came to be. Battered burgers have been around the Mansfield area for at least 30 years, and I remember discovering them shortly after going through an energetic phase of battered sausages when I was about 7. I had one as an adult and it wasn't as enjoyable because it was a really cheap shitty burger that they'd used, and I don't have the tolerance for that much batter in one go anymore.
