Paid Members WeeAl Posted January 31, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted January 31, 2017 I do like wrestling and MMA so it works for me that he covers both, but I can certainly see the frustration the coverage of both in the one article/newsletter/podcast etc would give to anybody that only likes one or the other. Paid Members Au Posted January 31, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted January 31, 2017 I do watch UFC occasionally but I haven't made a point of watching it since about 2010 though I'm pretty sure that I'm still into MMA even now by osmosis from listening to WOR for years.  I actually surprise myself when I'm able to join in MMA chats in the pub about guys I wouldn't be able to pick out from a line-up just because I absorb what they talk about on the shows.
King Pitcos
I have no problem with him shilling the Observer, prompting it or whatever, obviously as you point out, he's running a business. I wouldn't put that much work into something for nothing either.  It's his high and mighty attitude that I can't stand. He thinks his opinion is more important and worthy than anyone else's.  To be fair, he did dictate nearly the entire Internet's wrestling tastes. Greatest worker in the history of the biz, according to Al Snow. Every kid on YouTube ranting about how Reigns sux and Cesaro should be world champion is just doing a third-hand parroting of the type of opinion Meltzer and Cornette were putting out long before Cena or Cesaro were ever around. So his opinion is more important and worthy than anyone else's, in a way. Although he's often an idiot and his autism doesn't play well with nuance or jokes, so a lot of the time his opinion isn't worth thinking about.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted January 31, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted January 31, 2017 (edited) Flair, Cornette, Bret, Heyman and Jim Ross are the untouchables. They can say whatever they like, he'll not report their mental behaviour. JR can come out and act as if believing Jimmy Snuka killed someone is similar to thinking there are Aliens playing for Stoke City and that wouldnt get a mention. Otto Dem Wanz
Is he actually autistic? I thought that was just an internet rumour.
King Pitcos
You wouldn't bankrupt a casino with him or anything like that, he's a fair bit along the spectrum though. It doesn't come across in text (at least not in the Observer, I don't read his Twitter convos), but listening to him on the audio shows you can't mistake him for a neurotypical. KingofSports
The whole 6 stars for Omega/Okada was complete bollocks too. Perhaps that statement alone automatically makes it the most over-rated match in recent times. Good one Dave He may well be the king of; scoops, inside stories, gossip etc., but his rating of matches truly sucks, which suggests to me that he actually understands fuck all when it boils down to it. I've possibly been watching wrestling for as long as he has, so no reason for me to put him on any sort of pedestal or credit him with 'owt, hence I don't. He must watch a helluva lot of shit, to 5-star Omega/Okada. Just as well it didn't go an hour, he'd have probably wanked himself into oblivion. King Pitcos
The Canadian Destroyer is a flippy piledriver that starts in a piledriver position. The Code Red is a flippy sunset flip powerbomb thing that starts with the bloke jumping on his opponent's back. That was definitely Cena's best one yet. D@mm
Styles did all the work to make Cena's Canadian Destroyer look good, he deserves the credit on that move.
Guest
Styles did all the work to make Cena's Canadian Destroyer look good, he deserves the credit on that move. With the Canadian destroyer it's the guy taking the move that performs the move by doing all the lifting. So it's always on the guy "taking" it
