Paid Members mim731 Posted January 17, 2017 Paid Members Posted January 17, 2017 I'm very happy with this news, I liked Corino a lot but I've always liked Callis on commentary, and I think him and Kelly will be a great dynamic for New Japan. Quote
Paid Members PunkStep Posted January 17, 2017 Paid Members Posted January 17, 2017 I always liked Callis on commentary in ECW, thought he added good value. He calmed Joey Styles down quite a bit too, gave decent insight and his voice isn't whining or grating. Thinking about it, I think the Canadian accent makes for a decent commentary voice. Quote
pryko Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Kenny Omega got him the job. Callis (oddly) actually hunted down a tweet I did to Kenny Omega where I said "never stop trying to get Cyrus hired" and replied to me this morning saying "he didnt and now its official." Cant help but think in some ways I am to thank for this ... I'll say it then - Thank You Quote

Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted January 17, 2017 Paid Members Posted January 17, 2017 I may in a round about way have also kept Kenny Omega in New Japan because of this. I'm more or less a consultant for New Japan now if you think about it. I'm going to put that on my CV. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted January 18, 2017 Paid Members Posted January 18, 2017 You're top talent, Ian. Quote

wooly Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Just heard this about injury to Tomoaki Honma NJPW not sure which show though. We're getting word that NJPW star Tomoaki Honma was unresponsive to doctors following a rope hung ddt from Jado. Apparently during the setup of the move, Honma was unable to get his footing correct, leading to the injury. According to Top Rope Press, Honma was able to speak to doctors but could feel nothing from the neck down. There is no official word from NJPW yet on the extent of his injuries. Quote
Guest Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Fuck that's scary. Love that madman and here's to hoping he makes the speediest of recoveries whether he keeps wrestling or not. According to this source though he was at least responsive and talking to doctors, but was unable to move https://mobile.twitter.com/reasonjp/status/837815711938424832 Quote
KingofSports Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 According to NJPW, Honma injured his cervical vertebrae & along with Makabe, won't be working the March 6th show. They had been booked to challenge Yano & Ishii for the tag belts. The report doesn't currently seem to suggest they're expecting him to be out for too long. Kojima & Tenzan will take their place as #1 contenders...yawn. Quote
westlondonmist Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Apparently Okada vs Tiger Mask W was awesome. Also Tenkozi are champs again, glad as I still love their stuff. Quote
Guest Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 (edited) Tiger Mask W is Ibushi again? Why on earth is he pissing about as an anime character there? This really bothers me. I'll still check the show as I really wanna see Shibata against Sabre Jr. for the RevPro title Edited March 6, 2017 by sj5522 Quote
westlondonmist Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I assume they get money from advertising the tv show. They will use him as he is a freelancer so they can replace him if he decides not to do it. I understand it was his decision not to sign for New Japan and that they wanted to push him heavy. Quote
