Anyone had plantar fasciitis in their heel before? Finding it hard to walk at the moment. My diet will be biscuits and strong painkillers for a while. I am not good at resting I love to be active, this won't be fun

Yup done too much walking

I was listening to the UKFF MMA favourite Brendan Schaub and he reckons he got rid of his by using custom insoles in all his shoes/trainers.

Over the past month I’ve started to develop a knackered back. Aches and pains, always feels like it needs cracking, need to stretch it and what not. It’s every day, regardless of whether I’m boxing, at work, or off with the youngster. I do light Yoga stretches every 2 or 3 days (I could do more).

I’ve had a proper high street masseuse and a back massage from my wife, neither have helped and now I’m becoming irritated.

Seriously considering going to see a chiropractor, have any of you been to one? What’s your experience?

I don’t know anyone who has and yet internets opinion ranges from high praise to reports of death, so you know 🙄

I'd definitely book a session in with a reputable sports physio. Even if it's just for a chat. I went to one a few years ago with a nagging back complaint. He gave me a few stretches to do. Which I do to this day. Never had a problem since.

I’ve had physio on my knee before, and whilst it obviously helped, that was due to injury/post surgery. I suppose I’ve never really linked physio to old man aches & pains, but more for proper injuries and the like. While I do stretch quite a bit, I’m probably not doing exactly what’s required, so yeah, will consider that, cheers.

Starting to become slightly concerned about my memory. I spent ten minutes this morning sitting at my desk trying to think of Walton Goggins' name. He's in my top 10 favourite actors, so it's a bit worrying. All that kept going through my mind was "Cleetus Van Damme, Cleetus Van Damme, Cleetus Van Damme".

Also, the 2nd Feb marked two years since I last drank booze. I've never slept better, been able to enjoy work in a way I never thought possible, and also have been incredibly bored. And sobriety has not improved my recall, clearly. Worth it though.

Congratulations! Fun fact. You quit drinking the day my daughter was born.

Have you found something to do to kill the boredom? A hobby of some kind? I can't imagine being bored in my free time; there's so many things I want to do and so little time.....

I was being a bit flippant, I'm not that bored, I've got all my old hobbies and I'd added more. I would be lying though if I didn't say that in the back of my mind a lot of the time is the thought "this would be better if I was pissed".

Good on you, though. I'm about a month off it at the moment. My sleeping is definitely better, though wasn't straight away. I think my mental health is generally a lot more stable, the bad days are fewer and more manageable. I don't know if I'm done drinking forever but I've cut down loads in the last 6 months.

Also improved are perspicacity and boners.

Good work mate, and I absolutely know what you mean.
It’s band practice for me. I’ve been off booze for around 18 months and I’m far past the point of it bothering me, but I know for a fact that band practice and being in the studio is just so much better after 4 cans, saying that, it’s been about a decade since my last joint, and yeah, same applies, playing/recording music is just more fun when under the influence. It’s less productive and the quality isn’t as good, but it’s defo more fun.

Wouldn't go back though.

I'm at the doctor's tomorrow to discuss my diabetes suspicions, and also see whether he can tell me about what's going on with the Autism Service or give them a nudge. Might see if he'll chase the sleep service up for me as well (apnoea, I've usually had a letter from them to get my machine checked around this time of year but it hasn't arrived).

Anyway, I digress. I presume there'll be some kind of blood test to be done to determine what's going on. Regardless of what happens I definitely need to start doing something. People have been remarking about how I look like I've lost weight, but the scales always say otherwise. I'm not putting any on, so am probably maintaining and toning due to my work with high visibility jackets and heavy boxes, but being 130kg of slightly more muscle is still carrying too much weight. I need to Co trol my eating habits better, so am debating either going to 3 meals a day, or eating little and often and just stocking up on little packs of raisins, nuts, cereal etc to snack on through the day and then one proper meal with my other half in the evening.

I feel your 20 stone pain. I am used to being around 18 however since the gains i dont notice any difference in ability to do cardio, That said i doubt im doing my joints and organs any favors. I hitting it ultra strict for two weeks diet and gym wise. If that does not drop then i will have to head to the doctors.

Keep us updated how you get on,

@jazzygeofferz I'm not remotely claiming to be a Diabetic specialist, but I was diagnosed as type 1 last year so I'm very much on a steep learning curve of blood tests, finger pricks and injections. It gets even more fun when you carb count and have to work out what carbs are in your meal to then calculate how many units of insulin you should be injecting into yourself to keep you alive! Since September (when I was diagnosed) I've lost 9kg - that's not the result of dieting, but probably being more restricted on what I choose to eat, so essentially cutting out a lot of sugary stuff, cutting down on carbs a bit etc. So if you have any questions, I can certainly try to help.
