Paid Members gmoney Posted August 31, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 31, 2024 On my way to see The Magnetic Fields at the Barbican, just seen Chris Morris and his lovely wife Jo Unwin on their way to the same gig. My partner was reminded she saw him about 10 years ago in Piccadilly Circus with Kate Bush! How has she never told that! Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted September 5, 2024 Members Posted September 5, 2024 Jeremy Kyle leaving Winchester Coroners Court after giving evidence in the suicide from the show a few years back. He absolutely SPRINTED away. Nob. If you see an awkward looking man having a fag on Sky News, chances are it's me. Quote
Just Some Guy Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 Actor Joe Warren-Plant (Jacob Gallagher in Emmerdale) pulled me a pint in The Brewroom pub in Blackpool yesterday. His family run the place and when he isn't filming he comes over and works there. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted September 24, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted September 24, 2024 More news on the Tim Healy chutney front. My mum's been sending my dad round to his house with apples that have fallen off the tree in their back garden for him to make more with. They still haven't eaten the other jar he made them. Quote
Paid Members Scratch Posted September 29, 2024 Paid Members Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) This really doesn’t qualify for this thread, but it’s probably the best place for it. My good friend and DJ partner-in-crime is the biggest fan of Kolsch you could imagine. He’s not exactly a household name, but in the world of techno, he’s pretty much as big a name as you can get and headlines many of the big shows. A track you may know is one of the first things he did under his real name, Rune, as it’s been sampled to death over the last few years. My mate setup a Kolsch fan site a few years back as a bit of a hobby, and regularly blogs about Kolsch’s sets, his music and remixes. As we came out of the pandemic, the man himself found my mate’s site and contacted him to say thanks. Since then, they’ve become quite close and whenever he’s playing in the UK, Kolsch invites my mate along. On Friday, Kolsch was headling the main room at Fabric and asked if my mate would like to come with his DJ mate (me). We of course said yes. We left home at midnight to drive to Farringdon and got to the club just before 02:00. We were ushered round the back and got checked off against the guest list and were inside within 5 minutes, beating the huge queue at the front. Rune met us when we got in and took us into a private area out the back and we hanged up for a bit and chatted music, DJ kit, football, family and the club. He then gave us a tour before leaving us to have a good look around whilst he went back to the DJ booth to get ready for his set. He told us to head there at 03:20 and he’d invite us into the booth with him. We squeezed through the crowds (it really was rammed inside) and made our way to the DJ booth and he politely asked the bouncer to let us in before making sure we were fine for food and drinks. We then stood by him for the next 2-and-a-half hours whilst he played the loudest and pounding techno set I’ve ever heard. It was absolutely incredible watching someone so good play a mere few feet away in such an iconic venue, and he was always keen to make sure we were ok and being looked after by the staff. He finished at 06:00 before thanking us for coming along, and then escorted us out through the back, again skipping the masses who were all trying to leave. We then walked a few minutes with him and said goodbye as we headed for the carpark. Some hugs, handshakes and more thanks from him to us and we were on our way home. He was a truly lovely man, and seemed genuinely grateful for my mate’s support through his site and couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and well looked after. Before we said goodbye, he said we’d be welcome to be his guests for future show, so I’m hoping there might be more to look forward to. We got home about 08:30 on Saturday morning having been awake for over 24 hours, still buzzing - it was both a surreal yet incredible experience and one I’ll never forget. Fabric have such a strict phone policy, so it’s really difficult to take photos or videos. I actually really respect that, and it was great to see so many people just having the best time. That said, I managed to sneak one photo to mark the occasion. Edited September 29, 2024 by Scratch Quote
Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted September 29, 2024 Awards Moderator Posted September 29, 2024 I went to London for a pre-planned trip and a byproduct of that was thankfully missing us get beat by Everton. Roll on to about half eleven in the boozer near to the hotel, I clocked Oliver Glasner sat next to me. The team had flown back from Liverpool and he went for a pint, no doubt to contemplate his life decisions and wonder why we're so shit. Unbeknownst to me, I was that distracted talking to the gaffer that it allowed some shithead to rob my phone from the table. Crystal Palace Football Club: ruining my life since I was 7 years old. Paid Members BomberPat Posted October 10, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 10, 2024 forgot to mention my latest one a couple of weeks ago; I was in Jersey, and had been there less than 24 hours before seeing John Nettles coming out of a venue directly opposite my hotel. I know he was around for a literary festival, but way to reinforce everyone's preconceptions about Jersey, Bergerac. Quote
