Loki
I'm slightly worried now that the top 3 dramas are going to be General Hospital, Blackadder and Match Of The Day.
King Pitcos
I like Entourage, but it seems an odd fit for this -- and for the sitcom list. It was probably funny twice in its entire run, but it's not a straight drama either.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 16, 2013 Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2013 Huh? How was it funny only twice? Â Or rather how did you enjoy it if you only found it funny twice?
King Pitcos
Well it rarely even seemed like the point of it was to be funny. It was just watchable, and fun, and aspirational. I think I enjoyed it like boring idiots enjoy shows about interior design or buying houses in the country. "I'd love to be doing that!"
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 16, 2013 Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2013 Ha. Yeah, I guess that makes sense. But Drama was always steadily bringing the comic relief.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted August 16, 2013 Author Paid Members Share Posted August 16, 2013 True that. The Sopranos has more laughs per episode than most sitcoms for example.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted August 16, 2013 Author Paid Members Share Posted August 16, 2013 33)  "Jesus Christ! They've done it... They've done it!"   Threads  Voted number 1? Yes.  What's it about?  At the height of Cold War paranoia, the BBC aired this post-apocalyptic drama about the Soviets dropping a nuclear warhead over Sheffield.  What do you say?  "Bleak one off portrayal of what would happen if Sheffield was nuked as part of a wider Nuclear war scenario. Switching from the kitchen sink drama of a young couple starting out to coping with the bleak portrayal of the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust. It's stunning, scary and frighteningly realistic."  Clips!  The whole thing (FULL)
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted August 16, 2013 Awards Moderator Share Posted August 16, 2013 We watched part of Threads at school once. Absolutely terrified me at the time, I don't think I could watch it even now.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted August 16, 2013 Moderators Share Posted August 16, 2013 Threads is one cheerful drama.
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted August 16, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted August 16, 2013 Saw it the night it was broadcast. The very real threat at that time made it even more impactful. Scary, scary stuff at the time.
Vamp
Threads will probably be one of the only shows on this list where its lack of re-watchability is a probably a strength.
patiirc
Threads gives me the creeps. I've only seen it a few times, but it's shit scary. I would have hated to see it at the time, living near RAF Fairford when the B52's went over for the Gulf War in 1991 was scary enough. I remember having had a 'fall out' drill at school around that time as well. Â Threads is a whole different ball game. If you've not seen it, then it's one of those things you must. It's bleak as fuck, genuinely scary in a these are the horrors of nuclear war type way and Vamp nails it with rewatchablity being a good thing. It is a stunning bit of drama though! Paid Members Teedy Kay Posted August 17, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted August 17, 2013 I thought Threads was possibly one of the funniest things I'd ever watched. Â I too watched it at school in a large group, and we just ripped the piss out of it start to finish, like shouting 'Les' or 'Zack' when Battersby's or Dingle's actors appeared. Absolutely fell about with the bit with the sheep too. Â That childish way of accepting what was being put in front of us has sort of stuck and I can not take it seriously, and strangely neither can my mates. I've only seen it a few times  Only a few times, eh?  Yeah, once when I got it after reading The Day After/Threads article in Empire, once with my then bird who wanted to see it and once with a mate who wanted to see if it was as scary as he remembered from school.
