wordsfromlee
American Murder: The Family Next Door [Netflix]  Even though it’s obvious within the first five minute where this is going - it’s called American Murder after all - it’s still a fresh take on the tried and test true crime documentary style.  The film is made up entirely from footage of police bodycams, CCTV, news report footage, Facebook/home videos etc which is mad that you can document an entire section of someone’s life using footage not originally intended for that purpose. Really goes to show how much information and of us is online and documented.

It focuses on them after their release and an investigation into Terry Hobbs. Check out The Forgotten West Memphis Three too. It’s a four-part docuseries released earlier this year featuring a podcaster who essentially promises to find the real killer. A mammoth promise, but one which reveals a few new developments if nothing else. Also, Mark Byers, the eccentric father who was an early suspect, died in a car accident a few months ago. Normally that’s fine but the real time deleting and correcting spelling mistakes ruined it for me.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 11, 2020 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 11, 2020 (edited) yeh i found the deleting animation odd. The actual story upset me though more than any documentary ive seen in a long time, just horrible. The coldness of Watts was just unnerving, some of the video/audio footage they have of him in total denial is unfathomable. Prick. Edited October 11, 2020 by Egg Shen
Paid Members Cod Eye Posted October 11, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted October 11, 2020 Bit of a long shot here, but does anyone know of any good, in depth documentaries about how they clean up and remaster movies for modern releases? Not heard of one but there are lots of small docs around related to the remastering of specific titles. Good little one here about Jaws. Prick. Agreed! I've seen this with the missus. Apparently on second viewing he has a smirk when speaking to the press which I'd not picked up on. It was a very disturbing watch either way and apparently there is more info out there on some of the the Facebook groups that surround the case. Absolutely a sadistic bastard and almost unreal in its cold and callous execution.

courageous
The mole - telling the story of a guy who spent 10 years infiltrating North Korea's arms & drug trading. Brave / Mental but the story keeps ramping up the tension; although I especially loved the making regional KFAs look like a bunch of muppets Some of this seems a bit far fetched, but I've been to NK and yeah they really are that batshit crazy  https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000nr85/the-mole-infiltrating-north-korea-part-1 Edited October 12, 2020 by courageous

wordsfromlee
Also, off the back of this Netflix doc, he’s apparently been getting inundated in prison with tons of letters from women.
Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted October 12, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted October 12, 2020 (edited) Anyone wanting to dig a bit deeper on the American Murder doc, I thoroughly recommend the 'Watts Tapes' podcast. It's a nice companion piece. Edited October 12, 2020 by Silky Kisser

dopper
Last year when the 'Leaving Neverland' documentary was released, the two lads accusing Michael Jackson of rape and the director of the documentary were everywhere. Google searching their names (James Safechuck & Wade Robson) shows numerous articles and footage of their interview with Oprah. Â But I couldn't find anything on Google or searching Facebook & Twitter regarding Safechuck's lawsuit against Jackson's estate being dismissed yesterday. #MJinnocent is currently trending on Twitter (which is how I discovered this) but the only people with any details are the numerous Twitter accounts dedicated to Jackson, or his family members. Safechuck deleted his Instagram account yesterday which may or may not be related, but surely at least a couple of news outlets would be covering this wouldn't they? It's weird.
