Romulus was trash and gets worse in my mind the more I think about it, especially after watching the other 4 much better and creative films but... if they've already got the needless cheap callbacks out their system there's a chance.

I thought Romulus was bang average and really suffered from closely homaging something far superior but David Jonsson and Cailee Spaeny deserve another crack of the whip. Just have a go at doing something a bit different this time.

I quite liked the opening and getting to see the workers at the bottom rung of that society.

I dunno, I feel like picking up that franchise is a poisoned chalice now. The suspenseful thriller has been done, the mad action movie has been done, the sweeping sci-fi epic has been done, the odd origin story has been done, there's kind of nowhere else to take it without either copying the earlier entries or retconning. They've even managed to bugger up their logical "aliens on Earth" movie by not getting to it after Resurrection.

I enjoyed Romulus as the comfort watch that it was designed to be. The franchise now has the same enjoyment as a twee murder mystery show.

Good news if you're not aware - there's an "aliens on Earth" TV show coming next year from the absilutely brilliant Noah Hawley. I'm excited!

After watching Resurrection again I really wanted something about hybrid clone Ripley and her new Android girlfriend on earth.. I imagine there originallyv was a plan to follow up on that film but I'm guessing it didn't do as well as expected.

Unreal likeness. Credit to the hair and make up folks.

Wonder if his relationship with with Rita Moreno will be covered, then again it probably won’t as it would be quite image shattering. Probably one for the Deleted Scenes on the DVD

Every biopic is the same in that regard. No-one's estate wants film makers to make their golden goose look like an arsehole.

I was being a tad facetious, but it occurred over a 12 year period. That’s a hell of a use “and then for a while…nothing happened” considering the films he made in that timeframe

Odeon are showing a Black & White version (Godzilla Minus Colour as they’re calling it) throughout November

Definitely the best version. Also on Netflix but well worth a cinema trip.
