Didn't he pretty much have one chance on TV and shit the bed while doing it? I gave up on him when he started shilling for Fame Academy. You realised a lot of his success came from bits with Jon Culshaw, who was inevitably better away from him.

A couple of times I've considered starting a 'cultural things that aged poorly very quickly' thread and Moyles would be ripe for that. His entire shtick was mid-late 90's - 'get your laughing gear around this, wahey!' style bollocks -  and he didn't even start on the breakfast show until 2004.

Forgot to mention that one of my recent favourites for helping with my insomnia is The Sleeping Forecast, which is "Whispering" Bob Harris reading out old forecasts to background of ambient music. As peaceful and soothing as it sounds.

Partially because my musical taste isn't catered to by any radio station (and why should it?).

Also, I do the washing up at 6:30 with the comedy slot for as long as I can remember. It's not as good as it used to be and I do add in a podcast a couple of times a week now.

And, I'm bracing myself for derision here, but after three attempts over the years I finally got fully into the Archers 18 months ago. Cannot recommend it highly enough and once you get the hang of who is who and what's going on it's really addictive.

I've been a Radio 4 fan for decades, it's been a wonderful form of company in so many situations. As someone's who's very dyslexic, it was a brilliant way to spend my time when smartphones and podcasts weren't a thing as I couldn't read anything in print.

At a time when my wife and I were dating and living in different counties, the Shipping Forecast was the most comforting thing when I was driving home very late at night. It always made me think of my dad, who worked as a deep sea fisherman until I was about 5.

I reckon I've listened to thousands of episodes on The Archers over the years, it's always on before Front Row when I'm driving home from footy. I still have no clue who's who and what's going on, but I still find it a warm friend when I'm making my way home.

During the very early 2000s when I started a small business with 2 mates, we had Mark and Lard on every afternoon and it was amongst the best and happiest times I can remember. Their chart forecast they used to do was brilliant - more so for the reasons noted above. Still makes me laugh like a drain now.

At work I usually flip between Jazz FM and Smooth Chill which is surprisingly great if you like ambient/trip hop/jazz/film scores.

At the weekend I'll put on Radcliffe & Maconie. I used to be a proper 6Music Dad back during the Keavney/Laverne/Rad&Mac/Lamacq glory years and didn't even mind the change to Laverne in the morning and MAH in the mid-morning, but I can't really be doing with the currently presenters these days.

We used to have Absolute Classic Rock on at work with their "NO REPEAT GUARANTEE (between 9am-5pm)" playlist which would then be repeated the next day in a slightly different order. That barely lasted a week before we all got fed up with it.

I don't mind a bit of the World Service at times but they somehow manage to make the most interesting topics so incredibly dull and boring.

My first ever job was in a pawnbrokers, which was unspeakably shit. The only joy was listening to Mark and Lard in the afternoons.

The end of Mark & Lard on weekday afternoons was my cue to stop listening to Radio 1. Well that, and because finding out who was top of the charts as soon as you could on Sunday evening basically no longer mattered once we entered the digital age. Dad often had it on in the car when I was little until he discovered the joys of a cassette player, and we'd even mute the TV during Top of the Pops on Thursday nights because Radio 1 would be simulcasting the audio. And in those analogue days it wasn't out of sync!

After that I only had to endure it if it was on in the common room or a coach or an office, which became increasingly rare. By that point, Mum had taken to Radio 2 (which is preferable to the commercial stations she sometimes sticks on) so once I went to uni and didn't have a TV license, that became my default station on weekdays and Saturday nights. Either side of the half dozen year when I had Sky Sports, I made full use of Radio 5 commentaries for football matches I couldn't watch, but nowadays I generally either go to the pub or (more likely) just follow text updates online.

My Nan avoided national radio like the plague. She refused to go digital because early DAB sets didn't carry Radio Bristol. Now I'm finally in control of what I listen to, it tends to be YouTube, the telly, a podcast or silence. What little actual radio I listen to around the flat consists of half-hour bursts of Dead Ringers and The Unbelievable Truth whenever Radio 4 deigns to give them a six-episode run, plus one show on Radio Cymru 2. I still know when those go out on the linear schedule but I almost always end up listening on catch-up, so they effectively feel like podcasts or sorts these days anyway.

Fucking crap innit? Only things worth airtime are Huey Morgan at 10am on a Saturday. And Craig Charles Funk & Soul, same day at 6pm.

Nick Grimshaw and Huw Stephens in your drive time slots. There's got to be better options. Grimshaw the guy who got the lowest listening figures ever recorded on Radio 1 breakfast.

He really needs a co-presenter to bounce off, because he can be quite jovial like on the Dish podcast. Here he's just too awkward and dry.

And like you say, Huw Stephens, loves his music, but really fucking boring. He was always the stand-in presenter never good enough to have his own show. And then they gave him his own show, and it's not very good.
