Everything he says about football is how I feel about football. Him and Emma Hayes together has been quality. Pougatch gets on my tits though. Wyclef and Big Dunc have probably been the highlight of the entire tournament. Wyclef faking a handshake (one time!) and then going back in (two time!) Players like Giroud and Mata have had absolutely nothing to say of interest sadly, as is the case with most ex players. Quote
Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted June 16 Paid Members Posted June 16 Ange and Dunc have been good. Roy has been on his best behaviour so far, which makes for a pleasant change. He's a decent pundit when he's not being set up to do the Sky Sports content creator /rage bait routine. Nobody else has really offered much. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted June 16 Paid Members Posted June 16 I like Ange and Emma too. Neville and Wright were fantastic on the ticket prices and the problems facing football fans the other night. I don't see too much more, I tend to mute or just tune in for the game. On comms, I'm enjoying the ITV C team of Joe Speight and Lucy Ward. I've always liked Joe since he used to do Bundesliga highlights a few years ago. Literally only turns up in tournaments , although terrestrial channels have fuck all else these days. 5 live comms still pisses all over TV. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted June 16 Paid Members Posted June 16 If you stay up late enough, ITV have Jobi McAnuff doing punditry. He isn’t too bad. Good to see a different face to be honest. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted June 16 Paid Members Posted June 16 (edited) Disappointing to see huge terf Laura Woods on their coverage, otherwise ITV have been very good. Haven't heard Pien Meulensteen yet though, she not on the team this time round? Edited June 16 by Devon Malcolm alfons groenendijk Quote

Paid Members Jazzy G Posted June 16 Paid Members Posted June 16 I miss Alan Green on the radio being sent to what the producers thought woukd be the worst game of the weekend, and then having to present 606 and deal with the general public for 2 hours afterwards. There was always some perverse joy to be had from his hatred of the situation he found himself in. Quote
Rossman Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Just & Wood up front for New Zealand looked a lethal combination. Iran played well and had a lot of support from the LA crowd. LA has a large population of Iranians from what I understand. Lovely cross for their 2nd goal, put it on a plate for Mohebbi to head in. Saudi Arabia's goalie earned his money, keeping Uruguay at bay and the scoreline respectable. 27 shots, 10 on target. Most saves in a match so far. Muslera is back in goal at 40 (it's his birthday today) for Uruguay. This is his 5th World Cup. Darwin Nunez was useless up front and came off at half time. Uruguay perked up in the 2nd half and bombarded the Saudis goal, to get an equaliser. I thought Egypt were pretty lively and looked a threat against Belgium. Belgium were a bit toothless until Lukaku came on and made a goal with his first participation in the game. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted June 16 Author Members Posted June 16 That's the difference maker isn't it? Mbappe can have a stinker and then pop up and score two cracking goals, and that's probably the reason France will win it. Second half was good fun. More of that please. Quote
Paid Members seph Posted June 16 Paid Members Posted June 16 Well, that game didn't live up to the atmosphere until the last 10 minutes. But what a last 10 minutes. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted June 16 Paid Members Posted June 16 End of both halves was great. You knew Senegal would regret those huge chances missed. The Mbappe non-penalty was odd. It's the right decision, there was no contact but the explanation that the attacker initiated the contact, when there was none, was ridiculous. Maybe lost in translation? Odd though. The stadium announcer calling them "Team France" when announcing the goals gave me the ick. Bloody yanks. Quote
MungoChutney Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I disagree, there are still and moving images clearly showing contact and impact. It's 100 percent a penalty kick for me. Darren Caan agreed and said he'd had multiple texts from top officials saying the same. It was a really arrogant piece of refereeing for me, the absolutely worst kind. I've been involved in refereeing for 20 years now and tend to focus on them almost as much as the games. The refereeing on a technical level has been pretty good, generally making the correct decisions, especially in big moments. It saddens me though that it is so overly technical and lacking in character now. For all the memes, Collina was a very technical ref and it's clear the top guys are now crafted in his image. In his era you had the likes Poll, Frisk, Milton Nielsen and Michell. All top referees capable of making big decision (Seville 2003 not withstanding for Michel), but each with his unique style. That's almost completely gone now. Quote
