Funnily enough I was reading something the other day about top scorers and Italys was really low 35 goals for Gigi Riva When you look at the top 10 appearances as well its mostly Keepers and Defenders which isn't surprising being Italy but for all the great sides they've had having that one prolific scorer who lasts a decade+ seems to elude them Baggio and Del Piero are the closest of the recent crop with 27 goals Del Pieros goal return for Italy was pretty poor with just 27 from 91 games (Baggio is 27 from 56) A lot of the Top Scorers for national teams are players who've played this century (understandable given the increased number of games in qualifying and at Tournaments themselves and more weaker sides in general for players to fill there boots agaisnt) so Italys record being set 52 years ago and still standing is quite something. But Curacao can be so proud of themselves, they gave a really good account. Germany seem to have a pretty good starting 11, but their squad is pure nwo b team. Who on earth is Anton? Paid Members Statto Posted June 14 Paid Members Posted June 14 There's obviously been plenty of debate about the hows and whys of the "hydration break", but if it has to happen (regardless of if the game is being played in an air conditioned dome...) and it's a (pretty lengthy) set duration - why does the clock keep running? Is stopping the clock entirely anathema to football? Or do they figure more added time = more chance of added time winners/equalisers = more perceived excitement? Quote
