Still think it's mental that Sweden never won a game in the world cup qualifiers and finished bottom of the group. But advanced to the play-offs because of their results in the Nations League.

With so little hype and excitement being felt, I've had to find my own fun and I'm obsessed with the absolutely shit songs people have made to tie in with the World Cup.

Couple of terrible England efforts, first off this Mike Skinner wannabee:

and then whatever this is. Contains the lyrics "ladette cries"

And then this Scottish effort which I don't actually mind. I like a Scottish accent rapping and I didn't know what laldy was so a new word learnt.

Irn-Bru Tang Clan eh?

Erm, enjoy.

I'm starting to get a bit excited now. ITV's brilliant intro and that gorgeous backdrop to their coverage from New York gave me the feels last night. Enjoyed the atmosphere in Orlando for what I saw of last night's England game.

Have watched some historic peices and been down some rabbitholes of my own World Cup memories and it's still the World Cup, despite FIFA and Trump's attempts to shit on it.

The mug was out this morning. 60 years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming...

May be an image of coffee cup and text that says 'THIREE PEA D N ENGLO LIONS O'

I cannot believe that ITV have sent their full team out and the BBC are presenting from...Salford.

It doesn't bother me that much, but must be so annoying for those on the beeb side, it's so budget (which I suppose is the point)

No wonder Big Ange declared for ITV.

BBC are damned if they do, damned if they don't.  They fly a big crew out there and the usual media commentators will be "look at this waste of licence payer's money" and they'll also no doubt be saying how lackluster the coverage is in front of a green screen.

Yeah I get it, and I do agree, just like I said a shame for their presenting team*, always good to hear from within the stadium, adds to it all.

Just remembered this includes Thomas Frank, so fuck them all quite frankly :)

Just put ITV on as it’s the opening ceremony and they were on from New York. Beautiful backdrop and making me want to go back (Wife has said we can go back next year “if you can find enough for us to do”)

I was going to say something the other day about which presenters/pundits must be hated if they get the graveyard slot, crap matchups in the group stages. Then twigged that's silly as they will be there live.  So Uzbekistan Vs DR Congo at 12:30 it is then.

BBC have sent out Rick Edwards to L.A. so he can do that weird thing of presenting 5 Live  Breakfast on location whilst his copresenter is in the studio.

Heard an interesting stat that Mexico City is 7500 feet above sea level. Twice as high as Ben Nevis. Mexico are there tonight. But will need to win their group to play at the Azteca in the last 32.

If anyone kept hold of Peacock US after WWE left, the World Cup with Spanish commentary is all in 4K - watching it in time with 5 Live commentary currently.

Yaya Sithole is just an h away from one of the greatest names ever.

He's got a few going spare in his first name, to be fair. Sphephelo? Sphep-goodbye!

I think Sithole well and truly earned that h in his name tonight.

Korea/Czech looked a great game from the highlights.

Also BBC putting the final score in the highlights thumbnail on YouTube. Absoulte clowns. So if you would rather not know the result of the games you miss, subscribe to ITV sport on there. Just add the clock ITV!
