It’s the worst thing about pro-wrestling. How quickly people dropping a bollock can smugly pretend they’re just playing 4D chess and are three steps ahead. Triple H and Brian Gewirtz one hundred percent regularly trip up, do a little jog, look at their watch, then make sure all the wrestling media know that they meant to do that and are really cool, actually.

Ball is in Carlito’s court, now. Pitch that PS5 on a pole match at Wrestlemania. The combination of advertisement revenue and  giving Hunter another opportunity to smugly pretend this was the plan all along. You could be looking at another three years of stealing a living. That’s cool.

Of all the good things AEW are doing that WWE could have taken inspiration from doing a version of the Death Riders with Rollins really isn’t it. Though Heyman is a sexier version of Marina Shafir.

And that's one of the worst fucking things because he's meant to be this powerful heel trying to take over the company. Don't pop the crowd with your entrance. Change it back to his old one he had when he first had MITB. Can't really sing to that.

Surprised that the Logan Paul selfie suplex spot isn't being mentioned. One of the worst things I've ever seen. Stupid beyond all belief. You can't defend that utter crap. Embarrassing.

Watching 2025 heel John Cena isn't much better. Crazy that they could have easily done a heroic last stand vulnerable babyface run where he has to fight off all his old enemies and the young guns coming for his head desperate to make their reputation but decided to go with the shittest top heel run off all time. That would have been great.

Ladder matches were fun. I always groan when these big ladder matches are announced but they're usually easy enough to enjoy and they have enough athletic and creative people to come up with stuff you haven't seen before.

I watched the ladder matches and Octagon Jr vs. Dominik Mysterio. I don't think I've ever seen a spot make more wrestlers look like idiots at once more than Penta climbing a ladder, and LA Knight decided that was the moment to turn his back on the ring and try and catapult El Grande Americano into a ladder on the floor, with all the momentum of a dead fish. Penta had to stand on top of the ladder like a lemon, LA Knight looked a complete moron, and Chad Gable had all the time in the world to run up a ladder to hit a headbutt. All very silly, even by the standards of WWE "rearranging furniture" ladder matches.

Not that I've watched a lot of them, but I haven't seen a WWE show in years that hasn't featured everything grinding to a halt for people to do "run-ins" where they just slowly walk to the ring while all the wrestlers in the actual match just disappear for the duration. Nothing as egregious as a Travis Scott run-in, but Rollins' goons walked out, then Jacob Fatu walked out, then him and Solo fucked about for an age in the ring for Jacob to do his bit. And I admit that it's in part because I'm not following the story, but it looked to me like a heel faction ran in, then another heel faction ran in, then one member of the second heel faction turned on another member of that faction and I suppose the end result is Jacob Fatu is now a babyface, but it was hard to tell where my sympathies were supposed to lie. The first Jey Uso vs. Roman Reigns match was five years ago and we're still doing intra-Bloodline drama. It will never end.

All of those spots remind me of the main thing that I dislike about WWE. If it's not on camera, it doesn't exist. These two wrestlers need to do a prolonged bit of am dram, so everyone else just hides off-camera and does nothing. The camera will follow Jacob Fatu slowly walking all the way to the ring, without even a hint of a suggestion that anything else might be happening at the same time, that any of the six wrestlers actually in the match might actually be wrestling or trying to win the match, because that's not what's important in this moment. It just completely grinds the momentum of a match to a halt, and highlights how tightly scripted and over-produced everything is. Compare that to something like Anarchy In The Arena where there's stuff going on everywhere, whether there's a camera on it in that moment or not, and I know which I prefer. It's the difference between presenting wrestling as a live event that's being filmed compared to a TV show that happens to have a live audience, and increasingly I realise that it's the former that makes wrestling better for me. Though there was a moment of WWE having their cake and eating it on this show, as I caught the finish of Becky Lynch vs. Lyra Valkyria, and Michael Cole was screaming that from his vantage point he could see that Becky had the tights - so there are times when something happening off-camera does matter, but most of the time it doesn't.
